1. Mod it.
2. get a hard pad.

To mod a pad, all you need is a lot of duct tape, carpenters tape, and a big slab of partical board. I covered the partical board in duct tape, put carpenter's tape(that's double sticky)on the wood and CAREFULLY affixed it to the pad. It's cheap, easy, and reliable. I have a Konami pad that's been in heavy use since DDR USA came out for the PS1 and I've had only minimal problems with the arrows tearing a bit, but that was just recently.

It might be your pad that causes bunching. I read an article on the bunchage of different pads. http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Games/Roundups/ddrpad

the arcade still owns all.

Umm..couple of newbie questions..

What's the difference between Plywood and Particle Board?
Why do I have to cover the wood with duct tape then carpenter's tape(double sticky one)?

I'll go to home depot after I get a response.

Thanks once again! E4.gif [/i]

Basically plywood is stronger and thicker and more durable then particle board. if your a bigger fellow, like > 200 I would go with plywood.

As for tape. You cover the bottom and the sides with ducttape to prevent it from slipping. Then you cover the top on the double sided tape that you can put the pad on it, and have the pad stick. I personally use heavy duty velcro on mine.
