i stopped playing all school year and now have the urge to play again, more. i think it's something i will never be able to get out of my blood. i just hope it's the same for all those other players. plus i know new people who have been recruited recently, there is hope for this game. devil.gif

It's going to be pretty hard for this game to die out. As long as they keep making them the newer songs will get everyone back into it. Just think of it as music cd's. New songs will refresh the trend. New mixes don't even have to be revolutionary to be cool. from 6th to 8th barely anything changed yet people ate up all the mixes when they came out. If news came out on the songlist to the next mix i guarentee people on these boards who got tired of extreme will be interested and the mindset is that a new mix with new songs that I've never beat before is coming, therefor I must try these songs and beat them. And how many times have you people heard a song that you really liked in a new mix and you come back to the arcade to hear tons of that song stuck in your head.

In conclusion, as long as new ones come out with new songs it will never die out!!!

It is only growing for non-super geeks. I had never spoken to anyone about DDR at my school ever since I have been playing (2 years). This past christmas people got pads and DDRMAX. Even one of the cool "Live for CKY!!!11" kids had a DDR pad. biggrin.gif

The Arcade life is dying yet the mainstream home users are growing.

I personally don't think DDR will just get...unpopular...
But, it might just be...you know...forgotten...a little bit
I dunno E19.gif

It's just, I've been playing ever since 1st mix came out, and I'm just getting more and more addicted...yea... nerd.gif

DDR won't last forever...it will fade into obscurity eventually.

In the mean time, I and many others will still play. E4.gif

I dont think DDR will ever stop coming out with mixes cause most of the people create the ddr songs.. dont have to put much effort into them... so they could keep pulling songs out of thier as$ and then make a new mix... some of the songs sound exactly the same.... i think when im like 50 and i take my grandson to an arcade.. im gunna see Dance Dance Revolution _______ (insert snappy mix word) piece out

I've heard a lot of people who replied to this say it will never die as long as they come out with new mixes, but that's just the thing. As far as I know, and I may well be wrong, Konami is going to make possibly one more mix, something like Extreme 2, and that's it. End of the line. There aren't going to BE any more new mixes.

But still, I hope DDR stays around for a while.

Wasn't DDR 5th Mix the last mix? I mean c'mon there is no way we can make these predictions. Konami creates a DDR mix and they see if it is profitable and then they release another mix and see if that 1 is profitable as well. The process will be repeated until a DDR mix hardly turns a profit for Konami.

they have been saying its going to be the final mix since 4th mix plus, im betting the reason why they said ddr fourth plus is going to be the final caus of the stupid Naoki cd that came out for the internet ranking winners. 5th was the final caus they hadnt seen a new mix for quite some time, 6th caus 6 sucked and dropped popularity, 7th caus, well, i dont know, and 8th caus of its monster song list

Well, I didn't know about earlier "last" mixes. Like I said, I may very well be wrong, and I just wanted to know how long you people thought DDR had left in it's life.

I wonder how many more mixes Konami will come out with...

I'm sure at some point after all the extreme PAing and all, I will start to get tired of it. Might even get really pissed and tell myself "i'm never playing this stupid game again" and then a month later I will totally be playing it 24/7 again. It's one of those things that once you are hooked, it's kinda hard to knock off.

I apologize for my lack of credit, but whoever it was that made the reference to Pac-Man and Galaga is quite right. Games evolve. You still see the old joystick and 1 button games in arcades, despite the new technology of games such as Mocap Boxing, Police 911, and to a slightly lesser extent, DDR. Even with motion sensors, and buttons you press with your feet, the old games live on. Granted in the future, newer games with even more advanced virtual reality technology will exist, but I believe DDR will still remain for the people who play it now, and the curious teens and younger adults of tomrrow. Granted it will be a bit more... eclectic, but I doubt it will completely dissapear anytime soon. DDR will eventually replace Pac-Man as the "old" video game, when it does so, Pac-Man may be pushed further into obscurity (The day kids don't know about Pac-Man however will be a sad day indeed) When DDR gets pushed from the Pac-Man spot into the abyss Pac-Man falls into when DDR replaces it, then, may be the time it dies. Odds are, though, the arcade games that will exist them will be phenomanal in their realism and virtaul realty-ness, and arcade versions of games such as DDR will be more practical for home use.
