Definitely a major hardware overhaul.
Although DDR is definitely the best dancing game out there, it seems to have the worst hardware of all of them.
PIU and TechnoMotion both has way better resolution and the arrows are bigger (it seems) and scroll allot smoother. My PA in DDR is terrible (I can get 20-30 greats on 7 footers usually, that's tops, tho I'm better at home) and in PIU and TechnoMotion I've gotten it down to 3 greats, on some of the harder songs on each respective game.
Just a superficial thing: The backgrounds are also better looking on both of the aforementioned games, with the exception of Speed Over Beethoven's background on DDR. _________________

- More songs.
- Better quality songs.
- New cabinet style.
- New stage style. (It'd be nice if they actually made the arrows level with the rest of the stage, like Techno Motion. Recessed buttons are ANNOYING.)
- Improved sound system.
- More game modes.
- More arrow modifiers. (I'd bet anything that the mods in the Trick Oni will end up as part of the 'new' DDR.)
- ID cards you can use to save song data (i.e. Initial D).
- New sort: Music Genre (IIDX style).
Heck, you could improve everything about DDR. _________________

That's not uncommon, DDR's timing is much more strict than the timing in PIU or TM. I doubt it has anything to do with arrow size or frame rate. |

well they basically have that with ps1 memory card slots and link data.
the only thing i would change is spending the time to properly sync the steps with the music for every song.. *glares at konami* _________________

I think all DDR machines should have had a 6-button mode, like in the Solo mixes, but with better songs lists than the crap they offered. _________________

OH! I have a pretty neat idea.
Bring in a PSone memory card.
My idea:
Player profiles. Basically, you create a file on a mem. card, and you can PERSONALLY unlock more songs for YOUR games. Rather than wait for others to unlock songs for the machine, in general, you'd get a new song every 5 songs, like in the home mixes. And ONLY you would get the songs (and the person playing with you, of course) because it was YOU that spent the time unlocking them. And of coure, you could unlock more Nonstops, ONIs, Characters, etc....
Another idea:
Personal characters. Either download or design your own 3D dancing character and put them onto a PS2 memory card, and load them into the machine to play with your own personal character! CATGIRLS, anyone? ^__^ _________________

...your not alone |
Like you meet your girl friend Riyu Kosaka after school for a date. Then, you go a class taught by Naoki called "Fashon Tips for Women". You can go hit on the ladies with TaQ, but you'll lose if you hit on the woman who is really Good Cool. Also, you have to follow Paula Terry's wailing banshee voice until you find her, and then you need to murder her while all her fan boys aren't around. You have to sail across the ocean with Captain Jack in the Navy, and avoid all the XXL disasters at sea, but don't forget to look to the sky because Scotty D will just be dropping bombs on you. If you avoid him you can just look up and shout "Think ya better D, WELL DO YOU?" He would try to get away, but he'd need the help of Mr. T to take him higher. Tiger Yamato will be so scared, he'd just be like "Hold on me!!" You can rest because S&K is gonna make ya get up and move. After that you turn into a butterfly and fly around with Smile.dk, or a bumble bee and fly around with Bambee, who would be dressed up like a cowgirl. Just make sure you avoid DJ Taka, cuz he'll try to pull you into the Abyss, and that would just be the last message for you!
The next thing you would need to do is help de-sire invent the ultamate trip machine, because the other ones didn't work quite right. Why else do you think he keeps making them? Then, you have to solve the puzzle with Joga as to what Dam Dariram even frick means. Once you do this you become a Superstar like DJ Rich and the Tail Brothers. You can then Celebrate with JJ Company. Afterwards you have to do the nasty with E-Rotic, or if you're until 18, you can play soccer with Patrick Victorio and try to win la copa de la vida.
Just some ideas. |

Dam Dariram means run away.
I always liked story mode being an SNK fan, but it's true, this wouldn't make the machine IIDX-like.
I think for one thing, they should give the machine a subwoofer. It's not like the machine's speakers can't handle bass, they just can't shake the floor.
Maybe if they put DMX lights on it? Nah, that'd be too expensive and no one would care anyway...
I'm definitely hoping for 1080i resolution though. Or SOMETHING way up there. At that resolution you could indeed do 6-panel vs. mode. Heck, you could do 12-panel doubles, don't know why you'd want to though.
I'd want to take AWAY the bar. All the people around here play nothing but high speed catas and 10 footers, but they bar rape while doing it. Maybe if there was no bar, I'd have a chance _________________

They should make the Cabinet like somewhat smaller and different. Better sound, and different lights because in a dark arcade when the stage is close to the screen those flashing lights get really annoying. If they keep releasing DDR on PS2 then the machines should only come with a memory slot so that every DDR machine has to have one. If they don't then they should have a card or something. They could also have like those sensors like DMX or like PPP, but there are only 2 sensors a right and a left that you just use your hand to do while your DDRing. _________________

Quote: | For all you people talking about Software modifications (songs, mods, half doubles, etc), you're wrong. He said "IIDX" of DDR because IIDX 9th Style has a whole different cabinet from the other mixes. So he's talking about hardware modifications and cabinet changes. |
Umm, I don't think that's what he's talking about. I think he meant the change from Beatmania 5-key to Beatmania IIDX, which added 2 extra keys, FMVs, new music that had a different feel to it, a new cabinet, and other stuff. I don't think he was just talking about the change from BM IIDX 8th Style to 9th Style. Anyway, lots of stuff I'd like to see in the new DDR, whatever it ends up being called, has already been mentioned here. More actual dance songs (stuff like 19, November from IIDX, more Scorccio XY mixes, etc.), FMVs that actually have something to do with the song, a new interface (that isn't all green), a new screen (high-definition, bigger), etc. =P |

I was thinking twin solo pads? It would introduce a whole new concept of gameplay, and allow like 7 sets of steps per song (Beginner, Light, Standard, Heavy, Challenge, Solo, Challenge Solo), and introduce 12 panel mode.
People who have the 8 panels mastered would have a whole new world to master 12 panel songs, hopefully with a new difficulty higher than flashing 10's (11's or 12's)...and possibly they bring back the only grading system that makes sense to me: 3rd Mix. I think if you full combo something, you should get more than an A. I like 3rd mix...
But anyway. I think new mods would be nice. A little .5X, .75X, ect...it would bring a whole new meaning to Bag. They could write solo steps for the current 10 footers, making them 11, and then make all of the new hard songs 12. I think they should continue with a Paranoia as the hardest song, and a Trip Machine as the second hardest song (the way it was meant to be)...that's why I like PSM Oni...
Anyway. I think that right there would be great. Also, possibly have a larger screen and a sorting mode by foot rating (12 seperate folders for each difficulty)...
...but that's just my stupid dream. _________________
