quick inquiry-
The only pads I can find in stores near me are Madcatz pads and DPR2 pads, I'm wondering if these are aracde sized or worth getting, because I can afford to get other ones online if these aren't too good or die fast... |

Im planning on getting the naki DPR2 pad and doing tommyguns mod. I was wondering, can you actually feel where you are on those pads? I was thinking of putting a piece of carpet under each arrow just incase i cant.

|
|
Greetings from Germany,
I'm currently working on some sort of technical article about DDR dance pads. I ripped one of my Topway cheapo pads appart to analyze its constuction and weakpoints.
As I read through the pages of this thread, I became a little bit confused.
The Ignition Pads have a "pocket" with a zipper, where you can put a layer of foam, wood, vinyl or anything else inside. That layer changes the feel of the pad, but has nothing to do with the technical function of the buttons, right?
The arrows themselves (their electric circuits) are above that layer. How do they work? The cheap pads have this two layers of thin plastic with metal wires, separated by a foam with holes. What's inside the Ignition arrow buttons?
I cannot find any technical information about that, so could someone be so kind and explain the construction of the Ignition pads, please?

They are a good investment. They only work on the ignition 2.0s or the BNS ULTRA Dx...or any other pad that has a silky smooth surface. They extend the life of ur pad for a while too.
Ok, I haven't posted in a soft pad discussion since the begaining of the 2nd one. I Currently have a BNS ULTRA DX deluxe and so on. I am in need of a new pad though. IS the BNS ULTRA DX still one of the best pads out there that doesn't require a mod? Let me know. _________________

Hey I'm aiming to get a cheap pad to mod, I'm trying to decide between getting a Naki DPR2 or Madcatz beatpad from local stores, or ordering a BNS NX (not DX) pad, anyone have any comments on these pads? I can't decide. _________________

Hey hey all!
I finally beat the crap outta my Redoctane pads after 2 years of parties and trying to master freestyling all them heavy songs. After they gave up and died on me finally at a party yesterday, my friend let me use his bns ingition pad. I must say, I'm in love.
I would like to hear any comments on the pads mentioned on my subject line.
Buynshop
$48.95 http://buynshop.com/newproductinfo.php?PID=VG-DDR-ULTDX
Levelsix 2.1
$35.95 http://www.levelsix.com/products/playstation2/deluxeDDR.shtml
Levelsix 3.1
$45.95 http://www.levelsix.com/products/playstation2/deluxeDDR_v31.shtml
From what i can tell from looks:
BNS vs 2.1; look the same but 2.1 is $13.00 cheaper
BNS vs 3.1; 3.1 has 2 more buttons and is $3.00 cheaper
2.1 vs 3.1; same review as BNS vs 3.1 but a $10.00 difference
Now for some personal reviews please
I want actual coherant reviews, not something like "BNS for sure cuz everything else is SUXORZ!!11!!111!"
Thanks all for your help!

My pad just died on me, it will either keep pressing 'start' repeatedly or it will connect to the PS2 and not do anything or not work altogether. I've had it since last Nov. I don't remember what kind of pad it is, has "this is an official sony product" on the back. It lights up, non-skid, nothing externally wrong with it. Unless anyone could help me with that, i need a new pad.
Anyone know of a great pad that is affordable, prefferably one that i dont have to order?? (The pad usually gets a good amount of use, I'm up to 8 footers and i have friends over lots)
thanks _________________

I got one of those from my friend, who never uses them. The up arrow and up-right arrow/Circle button stop functioning after about a week or so of use, much to the chagrin of my DDR-loving friends. _________________

Hey, would this be a good buy?
http://buynshop.com/newproductinfo.php?PID=VG-DDR-DMAX5
If your too lazy to click the link its a bundle pack with DDRMAX and 2 BNS Ultra-NX dance pads. What do you think? And would it work well without bunching/sliding/ect. without modding it? I'm 5-6+ feet. |

I am having some issues with a couple of new cyphergames DX v2.0 soft pads... I ordered them but my computer was down for a couple weeks after they arrived, so by the time I was able to test them my "warranty" period was up. The thing is, one of my pads' zippers is absolutely frick. Has anyone dealt with this problem before? I'm afraid that without the tension created by the slightly oversized foam piece my buttons will fail just as quickly as they did with my flat pads *shudder* |

I bought my BNS pad in March, and after playing like crazy for four months, I'm starting to get sticky arrows. Now, since I have the BNS insert, would it be a good idea to go with a cheaper deluxe pad, and use my BNS insert? Or should I just buy another BNS? Is there any sort of difference between them that doesn't have to do with the insert? |

Ive had my Ignition sof pads since December and they have worked fine until a few days ago. One pad I will connect to the Playstation and the red lights light up when i step down but it wont register on the PS2. And the other pad sometimes the left and up arrow sensors will get stuck and when I go to step on either one it wont register. I was thinkin of opening the pads to see the sensors but was wondering if there was anything else I can do until I get my metal pads in a month. |

A quick question--
Does the chairmat mod have an affect on the RO 2.0 ignition pads? It already has a foam insert... just wondering if it can be more effective then that. _________________

No, ya can't. BTW, is there a difference between the Mad Catz pad and the DPR2? I need an answer by this Thursday. _________________

ive gotten a decent red octane pad, put a thick peice of wood under it, but it doesnt change the fact that the sensors inside the pad slide and you end up getting misses (if you totally miss it) or a good/boo if you hit it at the right time but it didnt sense it quick enough because it isnt in the right spot. and no, adding plexi-glass wont help it. It might last longer, but its a pain to set up and it doesnt last that much longer. Just buy those hard pads with 6 month warrenties, if youre willing to spend that much money. Hell, ive seen people pay that much on the amount of soft pads they've gone through |
