Hmmmmm well I've never had a drink in my life. Drinking and alcohol are everything I stand against in my crusade to keep up my perfect health...

...does Sierra Mist count?

Not actually smoking, but getting drunk off my @$$ makes DDR even more fun. I'm still able to make it on Maniac... and then I fall face flat on the pad and people let me be for a good decent hours riiight.gif

I feel similar to the way you do. However I have had a few drinks. But I don't really drink at all. You really aren't missing out on much. It does make you more social, but only when your under the influence.

And no I have never played DDR while intoxicated. I play to improve my skills not to embarass myself.

A few weeks ago I bought a dozen beer (12 oz Canadian cans at 5.5%) and was going to do a fancy experiment to watch my DDR performance plummet as I got drunk.

I was using the controller to play DDR MAX on the PS2. So what? It's the reaction time and coordination I was interested in testing! I selected 6 songs (one song of each rank 5 through 10 feet) and played them all after consuming each beer, making note of the scores. I hate the taste of beer (after 2 of them) so I didn't drink quickly enough, and probably began sobering up slightly, tainting the results.

Below is the score on each song as the night progressed. What is interesting is the new records that were made! I might have put more concentration into the game than usual. Perhaps my always-askew perfect attack was delayed just enough to actually score more perfects!? Replaying the same songs helped as well.

I probably will never know how this might have ended up. After 3 beer, I often had to replay songs because I forgot to write down my score after finishing the song. And after 5 beer, I decided in my stupor that this was a dumb idea and went and did something else.

CUTIE CHASER 5 foot
0 beer (11:20) = 56643890 (AA)
1 beer (11:45) = 57610140 (AA) New Record!
2 beer (12:17) = 57444748 (AA)
3 beer (12:43) = 49068863 (A)
4 beer (01:26) = 49063484 (A)
5 beer (02:20) = 35749142 (C) Fluke! 20 minutes later I got an AA on this.

MY GENERATION 6 foot
0 = 64976038 (AA)
1 = 63260124 (AA)
2 = 65287708 (AA) highest score (that night)
3 = 55177808 (A)
4 = 62638857 (AA)
5 = 55687951 (A)

OVERBLAST! 7 foot
0 = 62388138 (AA)
1 = 63798888 (AA) highest score
2 = 60948330 (A)
3 = 58564163 (A)
4 = 62847905 (A)
5 = 55553279 (A)

SYNCHRONIZED LOVE 8 foot
0 = 64181512 (A)
1 = 68399921 (AA) New Record!
2 = 64157844 (AA)
3 = 48276988 (B)
4 = 60414417 (A)
5 = 59057513 (A)

EXOTIC ETHNIC 9 foot
0 = 67892728 (AA)
1 = 68250092 (A) highest score
2 = 60369637 (A)
3 = 65124643 (A)
4 = 59589069 (A)
5 = 51866002 (A)

MAX 300 10 foot
0 = 62920225 (A)
1 = 65701694 (A) New Record!
2 = 60067350 (A)
3 = 59818395 (A)
4 = 58347985 (B)
5 = 52623208 (B)

I do realize this experiment was in so way scientific. I also do not suggest you go and play DDR drunk, for you can easily sprain an ankle or do something else you may regret. I think if this particular experiment continued, the scores would continue to slowly fall off and I eventually would have barfed.

These results were fished out of my paper garbage box for your amusement.

Drugs and alcohol are bad. Mmmmkay? E1.gif

I agree to that. But if you're intoxicated you should never out to the arcade. Security or cops will escort you out of the mall as quickly as possible, especially when you're overly intoxicated.

Hmmmmmm yup especially where I play, while the young ladies laugh at your idiocy and get escorted away. Actually that has happened with one gentleman, I believe my friend (now manager) said he was 26? How pathetic was that? He even had his kid with him.

I've played drunk a couple of times. It's really not that hard and I can still play on the maniac level. However I get tired MUCH faster. But then again I get tired much faster on a full stomach too. =/
