I agree that DDR won't be discontinued. Out of all the mixes I've played, I'd say that Extreme is the best. It's only going to get better. Here are my predictions on what's going to happen in the next mix of DDR if it does happen:
- The extra stage will be Extreme350 if the new mix is called Extreme2
- Quasar will be one of the hidden songs
- There will be harder and longer Oni Courses
- Flash In The Night will return
- More Beatmania IIDX songs
- Modifiers from the Trick Oni Course will be selectable
- More liscensed songs will be cut from previous mixes
- They will have another online vote to see what songs from other Bemani games will be in this mix
These are just predictions. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them happened. _________________

i dont think they will discontinue it. it still makes a decent amout of money, the only reason people mite think that is is because it is less popular then it had once been.
no way they can discontinue it.... |

DDR is a business asset. It exists because it generates income for Konami. It also happens to be one of Konami's largest assets. If Konami stopped making DDR machines, you know what would happen: they'd lose money. One thing companies hate doing is losing money. So it would seem terminating the DDR series would be a knife through their right ankle... they COULD do it, but they've already got most of the software and hardware specs for making the game and Maeda Naoki's phone number, so why not just call up a few artists to give the game a new Look&Feel and call it 9th mix?
Just my thoughts on this.

Its certainly true that DDR is nowhere near as popular as it once was in Japan, but its staying strong in the US, and is really only just taking off here in the UK. We know that Euromix 3 is being made , and should be out over next 1st / 2nd quarter next year. Now, I cant see Konami making this their last machine. Extreme 2 will come out
just no-one knows when! |

Konami's main money makers are there arcade machines, and it has allways been Konami's style to withhold as much info on there current project until they are near release. even though i apprently missed half of Konami's booth at E3, i don't think they even had anything from there AM division. oh well, also, Konami has released info on DDR Extreme for console which shows that they are still making enough money to continue the series. |

In the recent Konami interview. A Konani employee says that they have no intentions of shutting down their Bemani section. This does not specifically say there will be a new arcade mix, but I doubt that DDR Extreme will be the last arcade mix. Konami didn't make an official statement saying that Extreme is the last arcade mix, theresfore they are still considering making another arcade mix. |

thats exactly what i was gonna say. i know ddr is probably seeing its final days in Japan, and its only getting more popular here. the 9th mix will probably go out in japan to generate some final steam before permanently moving to the states.
but theres the problem right there. im pretty sure konami closed their american headquarters, therefore making it difficult to manufacture American ddr machines. oh well, if im right, theyll find a way.
and heres another problem, anything american made is crappy (except geetahs). all the good stuff comes from japan. what will we do.
btw, i hope flash returns. OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

My arcade's manager says that he has a friend that has already played the beta Extreme 2 version. He says its blue scheme, as in Extreme green scheme.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

I've read similar things on ddrmaniax, and from what I gathered, this "blue-scheme" version was originally going to be an Append disc to Extreme..... but then Konami decided this would be the basis for 9th Mix. |
