Someone with videos of any of the freestyle or other dancing must upload them! I could even possibly host.

Thad, no i didnt get the actual pa count, i only stayed to watch the round after i lost then i took off since i was starving.

And praster, i was not crying, i was only stating facts. Yes there were a lot of people better than me there, yes even if i made it to the semi finals i would have gotten my buttocks handed to me, and yes the tournament helped me realize how difficuly any future competitions that i go to will be which has actually made me even more dedicated to the game.

Also, i dont think anyone got the freestly on video, maybe they did, but i saw no video cameras, just stills.

Hey guys, just out of curiousity the freehold mall one is that the one on 537 or something like that like down the road from six flags? I'm interested in checking it out and stuff, being 18 and all. What time is freeplay and what time is tourney and all that stuff? And its for 2 days there, does that mean two tourney's and if so can i hop in both of them? Haha, i haven't played in a while cause im nursing a stress fracture in my foot, but entering a tourney will be fun i tried playin, didnt go for the usual catas just some sevens... sorry im rambling.

So yeah freehold?

Well, the first episode of Dance Fever is premiering today (7/13) at 7PM EST. For the people watching in Hickory,NC it'll be on channel 64.

I saw another commercial for the show yesterday, this time on MTV. It talked about how there are 48 dancers in the competition. It also showed MC Hammer and Carmen Electra talking about what they expect in the dancers.

Which brings me to a frightening point: What is going to happen to the DDR players who won this comp. but have no actual dancing skills? Will there be some sort of training given to these people, or will they be rushed on stage to be humiliated in front of a national audience?

Um...I'm pretty sure the DDR winners are just going to be there for like the Finals of Dance Fever. I don't think people like DJP are gonna get to actually be on Dance Fever except for maybe on the final ep at Studio 54.

Again Praster, gj! Heh, I finally get to put a name to the face.

oh, and I rather enjoyed the pads I played on. All you have to do is play a little harder and they're good, that's all.

so lemme get this straight...
1.these "dancers" are gonna be dancing on the dance game?
2.is it just the freestylers or is it tech too?
3.We're gonna be judged by people that have never seen the dance game before?
im curious, do the people pick the songs or the judges? like the final song last i heard for the last tourney location was end of the century, did a kid pick that or a tourney official just sey "hey, 8 foot or plus, ill pick that"

just curious what i need to watch for
and how bad ARE these pads on a scale of 1-10? do the arrows stick, not work at all, do you need to stomp excessively hard to do it?

Of topic completely I know but Praz, I hope you're having fun away from us STL folk, to bad I'm not much of a fan of DDR freak otherwise I'd of known about this sooner. What do you do for them? I didn't feel like reading all of the pages, remember I'm STC, I'm lazy. I saw Residents post though.

On Topic: I missed it but I think it would be fun, like a large DDR get together. I'm either sleeping or working when it's on so I don't have much of a chance to watch this.

Praster picks ALL the songs in each round.

I don't know what criteria he uses for picking songs (probably does it on a whim). Songs do get harder as the rounds go on, expect hard songs as you move on to the later rounds.

On average, I'd give those pads a 7 (relative to other 4th Solo machines). Like Thad said, just step a bit harder than usual.

Heh, until Praster picks a song that even I've never played in the "Trick" round. I forget the name of it...it's a K-pop song though.

I was like phew...I didn't get a maniac song on my round.

Holy crap......

Please tell me you're kidding....

Please tell me you simply haven't read everything else in this thread.....

THIS GUY = DUM.

No offense, but if you would of read everything else in this thread, then you'd know that it's on Solo 6-Panel machines, and the comp is only on 4-panel mode.....

Yet another reason why I hate playing DDR because of people like this.....

Update:

Well, the first episode of Dance Fever came on last night, first at 7PM, and then in an encore at 8PM. There was absolutely no footage of DDR on the show. In fact, the announcer introduced a clip showing auditions completely different than the DDR comps. that were being used to select contestants. These "tryouts" were held in five major cities (Miami, New York, etc.) and had no DDR machines in sight. The contestants-to-be did a dance routine in front of a couple of judges, who decided if they made the show or not.

For the show itself, it was sort of like a cross between American Idol and Saturday Night Fever (except with more varieties of dance, not just disco). The contestants did their routines and were given number scores from the panel of celeb. judges. The dancers/acts were grouped into fours, with the act having the top score advancing to a "dance off" at the end of the show, in which the top two acts did a 30 second routine.

The point: No DDR, and no DDR players on the dance stage. Everyone on the show had good dancing talent, and showcased a good variety of styles from Ballroom, to Pop/Lock (I thought Hypno should've won E15.gif ). Like the other posters guess I believe that the winners from the mall tour are going to see the final episode of Dance Fever (VIP audience treatment?).

Kudos to "All That" for winning the first episode's competition. Overall a pretty entertaining show. I'm looking forward to the next episode (which will air on Sundays at 7PM EST)

Dojo set it up nicely....

The TV show has ABSOLUTLY AND COMPLETELY NOTHING TO DO WITH DDR IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!!!!

The TV show is about REAL dancing, not dancing on a video game. Just think American Idol meets Dirty Dancing.

The point of the DDR tour-naments is that it's a PROMOTIONAL thing for the TV show. "Oh...I was at the mall yesterday and saw all these guys playing on the Dance Fever machines. Isn't there a show called Dance Fever on TV? Maybe I should check that out." That's the only point of this.

And yes, winners and their guest (such as myself), get to go to Vegas for the wrap party to the show, that will probaby be lame, so I'll be off playing IIDX somewhere, or playing poker or something. DEFINETLY drinking.....(since it didn't say we can't in the waiver we had to sign) =)

So yeah.....I've lost track of how many times I've said this, but the TV show is gay, and the mall tour is a promotional thing, and Vegas will kick so much buttocks now that DJP is going. =))))
