Take the arrow out, and check the solder point. If a wire's loose, resolder it.

Probably someone has already asked to compare these, but what would be better, buying two metal pads on eBay for like $245 (the lowest I've seen) or getting one Cobalt Flux. |

I would really advise going for a CF. I think the little bit of extra money you pay is going to be worth saving the hassle of resoldering wires, having cracked arrows, having to mod your metal pad (if they still use that lame foil tape), and so on. CF's have basically nothing to break -- they're a bunch of paired sheet metal pieces that register a step when you complete the circuit. No foil tape to wear down or burn through. No screw marks or stress fractures that _Ter wrote a gigantic guide about. They just...work -- and very, very well at that. |

I bought two pads like that off ebay a few weeks ago, and they are all rips. Don't waste time bidding. They are poorly constructed and die easily. |

Hello
I simply can't figure out what this is:
http://www.play-asia.com/paos-13-50c4d001.html
I thought it was a Cyphergames V2 - since the bottom is in one piece with rubber stoppers - but it has start and select buttons on the side - and it doesn't look like there is a seperate control box.
Since I live in Europe - this would be a great way for me to buy a metal dance pad - but I don't know if it is any good...
I looks like it is the same platform shown here - and here it says that it is 1,5 inches thick - but isnĀ“t that the thickness of the V2:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3537365066&category=21185
I am very confused - can someone please tell me what kind of platform it is ?
Thanks in advance...

No. This pad isn't made by RedOctane, and I think somewhere on this board (or maybe the Cobalt Flux boards?) someone already posted about it. I think it is probably a pad that falls into the 3rd category of pads discussed in the first page of this thread. That is what it looks like at least, though I have never played on one. But it is certainly no Cobalt Flux.
EDIT: This is an extremely late edit, but I thought you were referring to the old 3rd party metal pads on the RO website. I know nothing about these new pads though, sorry. A post on the Cobalt Flux boards was made about these though, and Vance seems pretty confident that it won't beat out Cobalt Flux.

It is a made by red octane. If you can't see it you must be blind. Look at the link: http://www.redoctane.com/redoctanemetalpad.html |

I have a CG, and know how to do PS2freak's mod, but I was just wondering here I can get some lexan. After searching around on the net for a while, I only found one place that was actually selling the stuff, and it would cost me $60 just for 4 square feet of it. There's got to be a better way. Also, how do I get the arrow patterns? Just print them out on a sheet of paper and attach it to the underside of the lexan? Not that arrows are really necessary, but it would be nice. |

Woah woah, no need to be so harsh. DubbleOhKevin probably just remembers the time when RedOctane sold crappy metal pads that weren't made by them. Even when I read the first post about new RO metal pads I was a little skeptical, at least until I went to see them for myself. _________________

Hey I'm going to get 2 MyMyBox 6 arrow metal pads from Ebay. Do these require any modding, and how long do they last? I'm either getting those or these cyphergames: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3537716180&category=21185 ... are those version 1s or 2s??? If I find out that both of these are screwy I may just end up going with 1 cf.... but i really want 2 pads. _________________

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find brackets like seen in the Red Octane metal pads (http://www.redoctane.com/ddrmetalpad.html) as well as many other retail metal pads. I'm looking to build a pad but would prefer to use something other than the Stanley corner braces suggested by ddrhomepad and others... I could use either a link to where to find these types of brackets or maybe someone could at least tell me what they would be called. Thanks. |
