I think marvelouses add a lot to the new oni courses. Naoki Neo-Standard would be so boring without them...

Why can't people understand a joke. Even after over a year, people still get confused over that image frown.gif

I clearly label on my site that the "AAAA" picture is *NOT REAL*, and is merely a modified picture of Yasu's AAA on Trance de Janeiro light. There are 96 steps in it...which was "altered" to read 996, and even the max combo counter was modified to read over 1000.

That is why that pic is in the "Extra" photos section and not in the AAA section. I put random images there. Here is the URL:
http://www.aaroninjapan.com/extra.html

BTW, the file name of the image is:

this_is_a_fake_photo_there_is_no_such_thing_as_an_aaaa.jpg

Marvelouses should have been called Just Perfects (flashing Perfects) a la 5-, 7-, and 5-key-and-pedal Beatmania, which ahd Just Greats (flashing Greats). Marvelous being better than Perfect is just...stupid.

Note: Yes, I know they're called beatmania, beatmaniaIIDX, and beatmaniaIII, but a lot of people don't know much about the beatmania series.

if you've been playing long enough, you can tell the difference between a perfect and a marvelous. there is a noticable difference, especially in extreme. the perfect window is actually pretty big, and you can be a tiny bit off and still get a perfect. marvelouses correct that by making a much more strict timing code. anyway, i really hope the next one has it in normal mode too, it really helps me stay on beat. once i see perfects, i know im a little off, and i can correct it before getting a great. however, with just perfects, by the time you realize you're off, you've probably already got a great.

I feel the EXACT same way. You can really tell the difference between the two, and it helps you in the long run with regular PA.

well, it's like this. you can do something perfectly, which is doing it as the way it was intended to. then you can do something marvelously, which adds flair to something that's already perfect. yeah, it doesn't make any sense in ddr, but that puts marvelous above perfect in my little head.

If someone got all marvelouses, then yes, they should get a AAAA, but that wasn't thought of. Actually, if they do give you something for all marvelous in ex2, they shouldnt call it AAAA, they should call it something else, oh, like in crazy taxi, a cool animation displaying the word "AWSOME!"

Marvelouses are a bad idea, I don't think they belong in DDR or anything. On SM, I can't turn it off on regular play and I only use it on Nonstop/Oni's only!! Argh!! I hate Marvelouses with a passion.

Uhhhh...I never played EX, but I just like to add commentary to an issue..... "Just perfecters" just sounds lame, and the perfect range is pretty damn expendable.... I have gotten several "perfects" and "greats", but the range is pretty wide, and my timing tends to Vary.... I think the Idea is cool, but they could have chosen a different name....
Example: Miss, Boo, Good/ok, Great, "Excellent" , and then maybe Perfect or "Superior"
Well the point is Konami was really thinkin' when they came up with the Idea, but the mane of the term Sucks....
I hope the keep the Idea for EX2, and I hope they put an EX machine somewhere in Apple Valley, CA, USA.
Later!

I totally agree with cfusionpm that Marvelous steps keep you from going off beat, I hope they soon add them to normal play so that they could keep me focused then also, but the whole how can u get better than perfect thing well it would seem as though perfection hasn't been perfected E4.gif
