I am planning on buying a DDR machine and one of the key factors influencing my decision is:

As the mixes get better, do the pads improve with them? Or have they been using the same pad since 1st mix?
If I bought a 1st mix machine and Upgrated it to extreme, would the pad be much worse then if I had bought the actual 8th mix machine?

If any of you know much about this, your information is appreciated. biggrin.gif

I'm not sure if there are any difference in pads for the mixes, but earlier pads will handle freeze arrows. Our arcade machine was a 3rd mix, and it got upgraded to Extreme, and the freeze arrows work fine.. (except when people beat up the pads... disturb.gif )

Yeah, at the Playdium here, we used our 1st Mix pads on Extreme, and they work fine.

There is no difference in pads, konami still manufactures the same one you saw in 1st mix. Just when you buy it brand new they sometimes have different logos or stickers on them.

I've heard that some of them have a very slight size difference.... I haven't shopped around for my machine yet... it's still just a dream of mine.

A bit off-topic, but I've noticed in console versions of the game 1st Mix didn't have that great of a response with any other pad, but Konamix and DDRMAX do fine, just an observation riiight.gif biggrin.gif riiight.gif

Well too bad they're not talking about the console versions are they?

Anyway, since Konami stopped making DDR 1st through about 6th Mix, 7th and EXTREME probably are more updated and use better material. Or are just newer and haven't been waiting around in a warehouse for a long time.

i thought that only the cabinets changed and the pads stayed the same. because when my arcade changed mixes, from 5th to 7th, the entire machine changed except for the pads, which were exactly the same. i think you can buy cabinets and pads separately.

btw, if youre buying from an arcade, dont buy from a namco arcade. they have new arrows that suck buttocks. try to buy from anywhere but them.

I think the pads are the same from each mix DDR has come out with, I can't tell the difference.
