Piracy. Illegal. Bad.
Not to mention not allowed on these boards. |

Um, that's the same thing. Burning a game, then selling the original is still piracy, and still illegal. |

Okay, I bought an 8-wire 'stealth' chip for my ps1 from a particular online retailer (not gonna disparage...yet). It was listed as having "the latest stealth technology so even the newest games can't detect it!!". Well, i put it in, and popped in DDR 1st mix. It begins to boot, and boom I get the red circle of doom. 2nd Mix did the same thing. These are both original imports. The place I got it from is not helping me so I bring this to you all. Has this happened to anyone that bought what was supposed to be a stealth chip? I can understand if it was a newer game but we're talking about 1st and 2nd mixes here. Even and older chip oughta run those games, am I right? Help! |

Just got my flip-top in the mail today. Ordered from PS2FlipTop.com -- and I was lucky because apparently they upgrade every 10th customer's shipping to overnight for free (or some number like that), so I got free overnight shipping since I opted for ground FedEx, which is normally free
Installation was a breeze, it took me about half an hour (I could've done it in ten or so, but I was being really, really careful, and I had to keep running back and forth to find the right tools I needed (various screwdrivers of varying shapes and sizes). Go to http://kocaccess.gswf.org/fliptopfaq.html for a very detailed installation guide, with step-by-step photos and very detailed instructions.
Unfortunately, my import MAX2 doesn't arrive until Friday, so I have no imports to play with it yet, but I have learned the art of disc swapping (practiced with a few of my US PS2 games until I could do it without the disc rubbing against the side).
So, in summary: I highly recommend flip-top covers as an alternative to mod chipping your PS2 -- it's cheaper ($44.99 for a flip-top/Swap Magic combo pack with free FedEx ground shipping @ PS2FlipTop.com), safer than modding, very easy to install, and pretty damn stylish (I got a blue one, they also come in black and white, with more colors on the way). I can't wait until MAX2 arrives in just a few days so I can really start using this thing ...and then my CF just a week or so later! |

There are things called "commas" and "capital letters"... please use them x_x
Seeing as how a Gamecube mod is a single wire and a switch, that's not incredibly hard to do.
And, as probably mentioned several times in this thread, PS2 mods typically don't work well with anti-mod PS1 games. _________________

That question is probably better asked on the DMS3.com forums.
And I don't see why you chose to post two times in a row rather than editing your original post. _________________

I'm thinking of getting the flip top case for my ps2 and was wondering if anyone could list some good retailers and are there any problems with the case? Any booting problems or anything? Thanks. _________________

As I said in my mini-review, I recommend PS2FlipTop.net. I've had zero problems whatsoever with the case, and neither has my friend, who got a flip-top after hearing how much success I've had with mine.
Excelent installation instructions can be found here:
