I've heard that the newer Mad Catz pads are really good for regular soft pads. I'm not saying they're bad pads as I've never tried them. I'm just interested in getting the best Ignition 2.0-style pads I can find. |

Are you talking about modded mad catz or unmodded? Because I think that they would be extremely easy to mod and that, once modded, they would be very good. However, unmodded they are, uhh, not the best... actually, they pretty much suck. They slide everywhere and don't even think about playing on carpet. If you are talking about a modded Mad Catz pad, I will agree that they are very good. If you are talking about a modded pad, I have to ask, how did you mod yours? |

Hmm, I have just read through half this whole thread, and I'm not up to reading the whole other half, . I'm getting two MyMyBox deluxe ignition pads. I'm also planning to mod them, but which mod should I use? Should I take out the foam insert, put in a chairmat and use TommyGun's mod (will that work at all?), or should I just put in a BNS Xtreme insert if I find some. If I do the Xtreme insert one, will putting in a chairmat as well help out? Oh yeah, last question, are there better mods that work better than the above (I'm kinda on a budget here ). Thanks a lot guys. |

I new to this, so please don't flame me if this has been asked before, just point me in the right direction.
Any idea why if I plug my mats into the PS2 before turning it on the O and X are switched, but if I leave the PS2 control in, turn PS2 on, wait for the game to start and then swap the control for the mat (ie unplug control and plug mat in) the X and ) are fine? The mat is a soft-pad Gametronix.
Ta,

Gametronix? Never heard of them. I guess crappy pads have little problems like that. |

I was planning, too, to buy the pad cover from RO. Is this a good idea? Or is it not worth getting the RO Dance Pad because it's so much worse than the Ignition... |
My friend did the exact same thing that you were about to do. The pad cover is an excellent idea, and the pad is fine. I really recommend duct taping the pad cover over the pad and duct taping them both to plywood or even particle board. I used the RO pad covers to mod mine because they fit the pad almost perfectly (I don't even have RO pads). If you don't want to mod your pads (which you should do right away if you get them) you should prolly go for an Ignition. Hope that helps |

I would do
Tommy Gun's mod onto plywood or particle board, but it is a lot easier if you get RedOctane dance pad covers from www.redoctane.com. They're $15 each, or $25 for two. |

I house my pads over at a friend's house, mostly because I'm up north ~70 miles over the summer and the apartment's on the second floor. Alas, either you find a way of keeping the stuff relatively small and unobtrusive or you have people barking at you (then again, it's their house...).
I ordered two pad covers and one of the padded pads off Buynshop, since I already had a MadCatz pad that I got when I initially purchased the game. Though it's on carpet, as long as you're not playing anything too serious (I can still only do 6footers anyway, and my friends have trouble doing 3/4-footers) the covers seem to keep the pads in place fairly well. The crappiness of their carpet also seems to help grip the pad. |

I recently ordered an ignition 2.0 pad from redoctane. I read a review of this particular pad, and it said that after use, you should take out the foam insert to avoid damaging the wiring
Does anyone with an ignition pad take out the insert after playing it? And can it really damage your pad...? |

The answer to both of your questions is: yes.
All soft pad mods on this site enable you to play with your shoes on (I'm pretty sure, at least the ones where you mount your pad onto something), and the pad will last longer. However, even when modded, all soft pads eventually die.
EDIT: I guess you can't use Japanese characters even when quoting somebody. Well, since I can't translate it, I'm just quoting the person above me. |

Those look like Ignition clones. I doubt you'll have to mod them -- Ignitions have the nice hard foam insert in them. _________________
