Got forced into trying ddr while I was on vacation with some people a couple months ago.. at the end of the week vacation I was stuffing a naki pad into my backpack on my way home.
Now that I'm getting into playing on standard, I want something more. Got all my parts ready to build myself a pad, got my control box all set & everything. Just printed off my 9 logos for each square that I found on posts here using a wide format printer and some glossy paper.
I've been going through post in here like mad trying to find more logos however.
My question is this. Just so I don't have to make my own simple design, does anyone have pics for select & start as I've decided to make a top row with select & start on the left & right, roughly 4" x 11" each. |

I was wondering, what's better, a modded MyMyBox pad or a modded CypherGames pad? |

You should ask in the "my home built ddr pad" thread, they'll have an answer. :) _________________

Read some of the previous pages and draw your own conclusions... they both have their pro's and con's.

Yes, I removed the stoppers, they morph the metal.
Mounting to Plywood: To mount your pads, what I did is get some 3/4 inch pressboard (plywood will work as well), that is long and wide enough for both pads to fit on. I then put a piece of pine (any other wood would do here as well) roughly 2 inches wide, wrapped some sheet metal around it (optional, but is more realistic), and put it directly down the middle of the pressboard, and srilled it in using 1 1/4" screws. This piece of wood will be used to keep the 2 pads about 2 inches apart (they aren't right next to eachother in the arcades). Then, I placed the pads on the board where I wanted them to be drilled in. After that, I took out each of the corner bolts, and replace them with 1 1/4" screws. Then, you can cut the pressboard down so that it's lined up along the edges with the pads, but I didn't (so I could put backbars behind )

WOW I really really really recomend http://www.buynshop.com/!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered another pad from them to mod and play some doubles and stuff and they sent a blue sharkpad just like the one found on http://www.mymybox.com/!!!!! I changed the arrows and the foam underneath and it is perfect! It even has a seperate box for the start and select push buttons. I am sooo happy! _________________

My gf just got a metal pad from lik-sang and we took the rubber things off the bottom so it wouldn't bend like suggested, and now the lights don't work (I'm entirely sure what model pad it is)... If it was my pad I'd rip it open and see what the prob is (I've built 2 DDRHp's and my own model). But its not mine... so I dun wanna risk breaking it. Does anyone know if the base screws (that hold the rubber bits on) are used as conductors for the lights? Or do some pads have a special button combo or something to turn them on and off? (like XO start or something).
Any help appreciated!
Thanx! _________________

That's a cyphergames v1 pad (maybe a v2, but i doubt it). Check the previous pages (and page 1) for info about it.

I have two modded soft pads right now with RO dance pad covers on them, so I can't feel the arrows at all which sometimes sucks because it's a little bigger than the arcade. But whatever, when those pads die I am getting metal pads (definitely Cobalt Fluxes), I have the money now but I wanted to see if I actually like playing DDR at home (and I do ). I was just wondering if the arrows on the Cobalt Fluxes or any other metal pad for that matter are as sunken as the arcade ones. That is what my feet are accustomed to, so the more similar the better. Thakns in advance for any info. |

ok, I just went to Chinatown yesterday and I bought a DDR DanceStation hard pad. the guys there said that it was "the newest type of ddr pad for home" or whatever. anyway, i set it up and started playing a song... the down arrow lights up and everything but on the screen it doesn't register that i stepped on that arrow. the rest of the arrows work perfectly. i was wondering if there was anything i could do to fix it or make it work properly somehow. thx. _________________

i just got my metal pad from cyphergames today. it works perfectly and the only problem was that the little plug that plugs into the start/select box was basically smashed but all the wires were perfectly fine. all the arrows work nicely. i'm not sure if i have a v2 or not though. it doesn't seem like i need to mod my pad even though i was going to, but since i got it i don't think i need to. i may just replace the arrow plastic. but the pad itself, it's like dancing on a mirror. and i didn't have to remove any little nubs off of the bottom like my friend's friend had to do with his metal pad. so i think i may have a v2 :O
but yeah this is great, it works perfectly with my ems usb 2 and i've yet to encounter any problems (and hopefully i don't) |

If you are talking about PS2freak's mod, then you don't need to solder anything. _________________

I'm back, and I'm having problems with my v2. AGAIN. I just replaced the arrows with lexan, and for some reason, my up button is continually being hit. I opened the pad up and looked around. It wasn't the copper contact, so I have no clue what it was. It would go off without the arrow being screwed on.. Any help/advice/identification of the problem would be very helpful. Thanks.
Hey, if you did my mod, chances are that the foil tape is making constant contact with the copper constact point. Basically, what I did is run 2 more pieces of foam tape along side the copper contact, that way there is absolutely no way for there to be constant contact (thus eliminating ghost steps, no steps, etc.)
| Did that solve your problem? cuz mine is still messed up and i might take it to a special electrician before i mess anything else up. |
