Newbie Question: pads will work for PS *and* PS2, right?

Hey sorry for the dumb question, but I'm out to buy my first pad (I'm getting a USB adaptor, too - no PS) and wanted to make sure that whether the pad said Playstation or Playstation2 on the box it would still work. Thanks a lot!

i think it works for both. My pad says on the box that it works for both PS and PS2. Which kind do you have though? I have a Naki DPR2.

Following the logic that ps1 controllers work with a ps2, I can only assume they work. And since internet vendors don't post which pads are compatible with which games (If that was the issue.), I'm fairly certain it wont be a problem.
