Hmm, I just got a "Kiky X-series" USB Adapter, and it reads the arrows as the analog stick. Is there any way to fix this?

Oh and BTW, I tried it with a normal controller and both DWI and Stepmania didn't read the normal D-Pad. They also didn't read the D-Pad on my other PC game controller. Is it an in-game error?

in step mania you have a "ignore axis" option so that ignore the D-pad (if the adaptor map the arrow to axis... goog.gif )

DWI got the same thing but its not an option its just that DWI always ignore axis (because with axis you cannot push 2 button at same time (up/down left/right... try that with a D-Pad)

I dont know if their is some kind of driver to make your adaptor use button but... this explain what you got

But in the game controller setup, when I press on the arrows it doesnt respond as the d-pad, it responds as the analog stick.

Ok, update time. I made it so Stepmania would not ignore the axes, but now there are no jumps. This is getting kind of frustrating.

this is because your adaptor map arrow to axis...so..it's not working with DD... but you can "sometime" find driver to make it work (dont know witch) but if you can jsut read the FAQ (page 1).... you could basicly find what you want or say : damn my adaptor i bought for $15 dont work this is a peice of crap...

Alright, I looked through the FAQ, and downloaded JoyToKey. Now, it will respond to both DWI and Stepmania but it still has the problem where it wont let you press up+down and left+right. There has to be a way to solve this.

Heres what I think it's doing. It is pressing the buttons correctly, yet when I step on left and right, the axis thing kicks in and starts screwing it up.

First of all, before i wrote this post, i did indeed search for anything pertaining to my subject, and came up emptyhanded. then i skimmed the first few pages of the thread and still found nothing. so if i'm asking the same question, i apologize beforehand.

Anyway, I have one of those crappy dual joybox adaptors. Of course, the software that came with it mapped the arrows as axes. Is there some other software that i can use that will still detect my adaptor and will map the arrows as buttons?

EDIT: Ok then, after reading the LAST few pages of the thread, it seems that many people also have my problem. I'll just keep mum then.

No, it's the LPT one.. the grey one that is a choice as a free gift (that or blue extension thingy).

so... your adaptor...dont work with DDR.... the end..... it suck... like mine.... $15 for nothing... (a female PS plug... )

I will say : HOMEMADE FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!

1. My homemade adaptor rock and is really simple I can add up to 5 PS plug if i want (curently have 2)

2. My homebuilt metal pad rock too !! feel like the arcade !!!

hehe E10.gif

EDIT :

Code:
mebe munky

If you have windows 2000/XP : download PSX PAD (or ntpad.. but psx pad is..work better for me) www.psxpad.com (.net ??.org ?? search on google... dont forget to click the small "english" link on the website lol)

if you got old crap windows (98,ME,etc...) : download DirectPad ....dont know any link... google !!! (we love google E10.gif)

for PSXpad you must set the controller to LEFT ANALOG so the arrow = button

for direct pad.. its almost the same I think.

if you have other question dont be shy to ask them ! (I.. really... need....to....do....a....tutorial.....web.....site....for....those....adaptor.... E10.gif)

okay, i've gotten the RadioShack PSX-Usb adapter to work okay with my MyMyBox metal pad, but i really need it to work with my soft and comfy

ignition2 pad, the problem is that it doesn't even recognize the Ignition pad! anyone else notice this problem?
i've tried all kinds of other drivers and stuff, but it just baffles me that it would recognize every other controller i own, except the Ignition pad.

should i just give up on the crappy RadioShack adapter
or is there anything else i can try.

p.s. i'm expecting posts of : " GET RID OF THE R.S. ADAPTER! IT IS SUCK!"

Strange question. Does the EMS-USB2 adapter work with multi-panel jumps? In other words, will more than two buttons register at the same time?

i have an ems usb2 from levelsix.com and a metal pad from cyphergames.com
i had to fix up my metal pad arrows since the down arrow cracked (who saw that coming)
but anyway, i'm having a really frustrating problem with my ems adapter. i have the drivers installed that came on the disk, and it's plugged into the only port it can be plugged into (obviously usb). my metal pad came with a 9 pin connector that plugs into a little box with start/select, which then has the psone/ps2 controller plugin thing, which can plug into the ems. well, when i'm playing on stepmania, it randomly stops reading what i'm pressing. i'll be in the middle of a big combo and then bam, it stops reading and i get constant misses for about 3-4 seconds, which can bring down a flashing orange/red to a danger or even failing (which it's usually failing since i get so pissed i stop).
anyone know why/can help me with this problem? :/

edit: my mouse (mx500) is plugged into the usb port right next to it, so i'm quite sure it's not my usb ports causing any problem. and the ems adapter remains stationary throughout gameplay, so if anyone was going to suggest making sure it doesn't move around when i play, it doesn't. (since a friend of mine has a friend whose ems stops working if it gets moved when he's playing)

The problem with Metal Pads is that they require more power than the EMS is able to provide through USB. This causes power shortages and thus misreadings in the pad. I think the solution was to unplug/replug the pad after ever few songs, but I don't have a metal pad and thus have not tried yet.

Ok, so can you tell me the best adaptor(s) to buy and where they are at?
I want one that works with both DWI and Stepmania and with both soft and metal pads. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the exact same problem with my EMS USB adaptor, only I don't have the metal pad. The problem lies in getting it to recognize a digital pad. I think the metal ones have some way of faking analog. I don't know though. Anyone who cna help with this problem would be greatly appreciated...

Okay I bought this adapter its not the super one that you see listed on stepmania site either..i didnt see a brand name on it at all.

But when i put it on my comptuer everything works with a normal ps controller but with the ddr max2 pad (one that comes with ddrmax2) it wont register the down arrow. Anyone have any experience with this at all?

RadioShack's "PSX TO USB" is a healthy $10 and gave me no trouble.
