I have a few questions about the Arcade Style Pop N Music Controller.
How big is it? (need measurements)
Also, what kind of buttons are they?
How wide is each button?
Are the buttons rounded at the top?
Do they make a Popping sound when you hit them or something?
What is the spacing between each button?
I'd REALLY like to try the game but I want to have the arcade style controller. Think it would be possible to build one from scratch and just sodder the correct buttons to a controller? I've made my own DDR platform. Anyone think it's possible?
Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I'm thinking about using a pedal for the effector while playing IIDX, so I don't have to miss 314159265 notes just to set the effector to Delay 3. I can't afford a Drummania controller, and the only game controller pedal I have that isn't missing the cable is the 2-pedal set for my V3 Steering Wheel made by InterAct. It has a 5-pin cord or whatever it's called.
Are there any accessories I can use to make the pedal controller compatible for my IIDX controller? If not, are there any compatible pedals I can use with it? |

Do you really want to put every part of your IIDX controller to work? I mean, honestly, unless your playing a song like Holic or Buffalo, IIDX songs give you at least a good second or two at the beginning where you can set to the effector to at least Delay 1 before you hit a 10 combo.
I remember when I first started playing IIDX, and I had trouble switching effects while playing, but that quickly changed as I became more experienced. I think your best bet is to not worry about the pedal and stick with the select button. _________________

We are talking about the effector. Think of it like a sound modifier in IIDX. If you press and hold select while playing a song in IIDX, you will switch between four effector settings, being
Echo
Delay 1
Delay 2
Delay 3
and then it goes back to default. This can make songs sound really good or crappy, but it all depends on your taste of course. _________________

So do you have to hold the select button the whole time you're playing, or do you press it and then continue playing? _________________

You don't have to hold it the entire time your playing though. Back on 3rd Style, just a quick press of select will change the effector, but on the later styles, you have to hold select for a short moment before it changes. Think of it like a freeze arrow on DDR. You press and hold it until you reach the end of the freeze. _________________

I have the DJMan controller. It's roughly 12" X 10".

I got my controllers off of ebay as well. Overall, I have no huge complaints about them.
The keys are like a piano keyboard rather than the separated keys in the Konami version. I kind of like the keyboard style, but when I try to play in the arcade, it throws me off a little.
People here might recommend the official Konami 7-key ($100), especially if you're considering Beatmania IIDX for PS2.

Aside from the HUGE cost difference and the limited amount, the differences are the size of the controller, the spacing of the scratch pad from the keys, and the feel of the buttons when pressed. The buttons on a ASC click on the way up and down, and the scratch pad is considerably looser than the official controllers. _________________

Is there anything I can do to my topway guitar to modify it? I have 0 problems with the buttons, but the pick doesn't move to neutral every time (when I'm using it on the computer) Like, if I'm trying to do a bunch of fast notes in a row, it'll work most of the time, but not all the time.
So back to the question: is there anything i can do to modify it? _________________

In line of IIDX questions, I've got two.
What kind of modifications can be done to it?
What the hell is this?
When I opened it up, it was a Black RCA jack, but FOR WHAT?! |

From what I heard.... a long time ago,
that RCA jack was meant to have use of the Foot pedal when Beatmania III was gonna be released for PSX.
obviously, that didn't come to plan -_- |

Originally, that connector was designed for a home conversion of beatmania III, for plugging in a drummania-style effector footpedal. But unfortunately, there hasn't been a release of beatmania III yet, so there really isn't much use for it. (but if you do plug the drummania footpedal into it, it'll switch effectors during the game with each press.Much more convienent than moving your hand from the keys to fumble with the effector during the game.) |

My topway DM controller is not working correctly. I opened the box and put it all together and plugged it in. But my drummania games don't seem to recognize the buttons/pads in relation to what they are supposed to do. I can't go through the menus since only start, select and snare(which is start button also) do anything. Once I am playing a song, everything is mixed up. I went into key config and got most of them corrected, but I still can't do anything in the menus. Did I miss something here or is my controller malfunctioned? I know I could just switch out the dual shock controller when I need to, but that doesn't seem right.
Also, I did not get the drum sticks in my box, which are listed as "Special Drum Pole". They are just regular drum sticks right? I bought this on ebay and will email the guy soon. |

I've got a question about KeyboardMania, so I know a MIDI to USB converter works, and I have a keyboard and just ordered KBMII for the PS2, but I've been searching around for those converters and saw that the MIDI-input in those converters are round. Those are probably for the "real" synthesizers, as I've got a cheap MIDI-keyboard, which I can connect to the gameport of the PC. I know gameport-to-USB converters (or interfaces - whatever) exist, but does this work for KBMII? Can anybody confirm this?
And pukahsen_, I think your Topway Drumset is broken (or maybe the cable or something), as you don't need to configure the DM controller. If I'm not wrong, the configuration is like this: hihat = back, crash cymbal = confirm, snare = down, low tom = up.
I got plastic drum sticks with my Topway DM controller, so yes, I suggest you should contact the guy you got it from.
Oh and switching out the cables of your controllers is bad for you memory card - or that is what I heard (better be safe than sorry). |
