Those working on the show can't prevent you from freestyling your qualifier. You just have to answer which is worth more to you - the free trip or the probability that you'll be shown on TV for your moves on the pad? |
I thought about that this morning, since if they do the format that someone posted *1st song basic, 2nd song trick, 3rd song easy maniac with another song*, it would be HIGHLY possible to freestyle it.
Thing is, would some moron raise a fit because of it? Would someone go "Oh, it's not fair, that person played the game before, blah blah blah."
Then again, should it really damn matter?! :S

Willowbrook? Whoa, that's a 10-minute drive from my college! Hilarious! I'm definitely going to have to check out this promotion, then. _________________

No offence David, but I'm not believing anything until it comes out of an ABC exec's mouth, especially since these ads show no DDR whatsoever.

Didn't it say Saturday AND Sunday? Or is the Sunday at a different venue?
*ponders if Broadway City would host it*

here is my two cents i dont think that you really have to be 18 i mean there is some really limited info on the site, but i would be glad for either ddr or piu to become more publizied because it would create everyone wanting to be good at it and all of us that have been playing for over a year would be like the holofoil charizard if you use pokemon as a youth fad analogy. but wether it be ddr or piu i can pass all the songs on both heavy in ddr crazy on piu so it doesnt really make a difference to me, but i do hope that its not on a solo machine cause i suck at that.
anyways im from ohio and depending on what i hear about them i may go to the one in cleveland and in pittsburg, but only if i hear good things _________________

I believe you David, if Praster is an ABC exec. He sounds like he has all of the info, so I'm trusting him...
Praster:
Did you say 12-4 FREE PLAY in Charlotte? On 4th Mix Solo machines? I'm not 18 so I can't enter the competition, but if there is a live DJ, MC Hammer, and 4 hours of free DDR, why not show up?!?
Can you say "Ai yai yai! Can't touch this!"
Can you do a favor for me Praster? Can you please mention to whoever's producing this show that the vast majority of DDR players are under 18? Can you please ask the producer on my behalf if he/she would allow a minor's division, with written parental consent for each competitor? I know that you CAN give away prizes/trips to minors with a little more paperwork (otherwise Kids WB couldn't do any contests, and forget American Juniors). If you can't give the producer this message do you think you could give me a e-mail that I can contact to ask this question? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. _________________

Turning the volume down and playing a "popular" song? Okay, that's just facked up. One, even though they should be around the same BPM, the steps will still be off beat. It'll be like, impossible. Well, sight reading, but whatever. And 2, the DDR songs ARE popular, but only to the DDR population. If I wasn't more erm....civilized, I'd e-mail ABC and rant all the way to hell. My god, I don't know why, but this is majorly pissing me off. _________________

Serious guys... whats the deal with not having the freestyle competition. You guys are not understanding what I am saying!!!!!! These tournaments will not be aired on tv. DDR has nothing to do with the tv meaning being on the air. The tour is to help promote peopel to watch dance fever by using a type of dancing in general.
When abc first grasped this idea, they were not to sure about anything dealing with ddr. So they made this tour/competition really easy not appealing to ddr players. These tournaments/tour stops are to alert people to try ddr and see if they think it might be a form of dancing.
None of the producers of the show have not even played ddr. They just look over the set up and the products to make sure everything is going alright.
And seriously, I am working with abc family and on the tour.
I know a lot of you are complaining about the final rounds and the problem with the improv song but what can you do about it. Just try to play it the best you can. Abc Family really doesn't care about how the final ends go down, but just that the final rounds need to be with their produced song. The song will be a techno song of the dance fever song played to Make a Jam. This is subject to change though.
Once again you have to be 18 to play in the competition but you can be any age to do free play. All dates and locations are subject to change since this business is an ever changing pace of time and space for this tour.
Come out for the fun too. _________________
