It's pretty obvious why they're not letting people under 18 compete. They're not allowed to give prizes to minors, simple as that.

Also, since one (or two or so?) of the prizes is going to the dance party at the MGM Grand, they couldn't allow anyone under 18 to compete, because then they couldn't get into the club. At least that's what I was thinking.

I don't see why they would use a DDR machine. On a national level, how many people know that Be In my Paradise, Bag, Max300, or any other ddr song exist? The "audience" in question is used to hearing the music on the radio and tv. ABC wouldn't do a show where the music isn't well known. I'm thinking it might just be a brand new machine or even a PIU...

Hmm, interesting. Good thing I came here for more information. I can't dance one bit, and my DDR technique isn't very pretty. Anyways, PA isn't very exciting to look at (unless its some sort of AAA or Oni video), Freestyle is indeed more exciting.

So the contestants for the show have already been chosen. I'm guessing the Mall tour is just a promo event for the show, and the 'dance machine' competition is for tickets to watch the dancers compete. I'm still going to the event here in Cincinnati just to see what the fuss is about anyways, and maybe I'll get something out of it.

Well, I just saw some commercials about Dance Fever on ABC Family, and it seems like there is ABSOLUTELY NO EMPHASIS on DDR. The longer commercial shows salsa, latin, and breakdancers with the words "America's Hottest Young Dancers...Competing for the ultimate prize (or something like that)". A shorter commercial shows a bunch of buff dudes doing a knee-drop type move. The show's logo also popped up every five minutes during 7th Heaven. The point?

1. ABC Family is promoting the show like crazy.

2. The commercials don't show even a split-second of DDR fottage, much less mentioning it.

No offence David, but I'm not believing anything until it comes out of an ABC exec's mouth, especially since these ads show no DDR whatsoever.

Anyway, we'll see who's right when the first competition begins at Chicago. I look forward to hearing what's up.

THE FORMAT, as told to me from Mortalburn, who got it from Praster himself. (for all naysayers, I can personally say Praster is totally on top of this thing)

- FREE PLAY WILL BE ON ALL SIX SOLO 4TH MACHINES FROM 12-6pm

- It is in fact 18+ TO ENTER

- For the tournament they are using 4 PANNEL MODE ONLY

- The tournament is set up in a "everyone plays the same song and the top players move on" format.. but it's REALLY GAY.. the first two rounds are 1 foot basic songs.. the next two are easy trick songs.. and the next two are easy maniac "custom" songs

"custom song" means, and I'm not kidding, they're going to "turn down the volume of the machine and play a popular song close to that bpm"

- None of this will be on TV

- The first prize is still a trip to LV

I have is a question. I live in Raleigh, NC, and my nearest dance audition city is Charlotte, NC. I know there will be a dance contest that will involves DDR.

Question:

1. Where in Charlotte is the dance contest will be held?

2.I know there a DDR is going to be held in the mall, but what mix do we play for DDR or PIU?

3. If the winner in the Charlotte area wins the trip to Las Vegas, what is the grand prize?

4.On the show Dance Fever, does it have DDR?

The ONLY reason I'm gonna do this is the small chance of beating Tick or MortalBurn or Krucial K, or anyone else like that.....and getting myself a nice little free trip to Vegas.

Yes....the whole point of this show is dancing.....but the DDR is only a promotional thing. The main point of the show is ACTUAL dancing.....like swing and stuff. Or so sayeth some website I found.....and don't remember....


Come on.....it's free......where's the harm? Beat some noobs, then play some gay song with no volume........ Good way to kill a night, and hang out with a lot of people I haven't seen in a while..... But that's just me.

check it out people. if you need any info about this topic I can hook you up. I was just out in L.A. picking up these machines. I was there for a week. They did some crazy sheet to these machines. They are all upgraded solo bass machines. Everything will be unlocked and event mode will be on it.

The reason they are not doing the west coast in the tour is because of time. In the midwest section, there is a thread going on about the midwest stops. In the next month, the thread will move onto the east coast and ny and stuff like that. I am trying to get all the ddr players out in the malls where we stop by so I don't get bored.

don't expect to much from the tournaments because this tour was made for peopel to try to get to know what ddr is about and the final stages of the competition are so stupid.

The only reason why you have be 18 and older to enter this competition is because you will win a trip to studio 54 in las vegas for a rat party to drink and hang with some celebs.
Carmen E. will not be at any of these tournaments, though mc hammer will show up and some other celebs.

Theer will be local and abc prizes to a lot of the people.

The whole point of this tour too is to help promote the tv show which has to do nothing with ddr but regular dancing. The ddr machines are just being used to show a type of dancing. Ionno!

Ah there will be 6 4th mix solos
Freeplay will be on noon till 4 and the tournament follows it afterwards.

And when the tour hits NC the tournament will be in Ralieghing or whatever.

Serious, come out to have fun and try not to hate. I am doing all the hating for the ddr community to my bosses. The money isalso really good for this job. Really good.

i'll tell you guys something funny. Tonight in st. louis, I was at a production dinner with the producers of the show and abc family and I asked them a question about Mc hammer which appearntly a lot of people are talking about, and appearently they were drinking a lot and they freaked out, like you guys knew more info then they did cause they seemed shock. I swear I think an inside source is leaking material.

The one thing I don't like about this tour is that a big company like abc takes this idea that they know little about and try to wham it hardcore styleo n the u.s. The crew I work with don't even know anything about ddr or ever tryed it. I mean I was picked because of the info I know but i think it is retarted that my co workers didn't really seem like they had a lot of interest in this tour. I guess this is just an outlook on how bigger shows flop when a company takes an idea that they have no idea about and try to exploit it for money or so......

I will definitly be attending one of these tournaments. I live in PA and there are only a few really nice malls that I would think they would goto.

- Ross Park Mall or The Mall at Robinson.

I can't wait to see the turnout, any word on what mall they'll be comming to in PA? There was no additional info on the main page of that abc website.

So whoever takes first place in each mall they goto win's a vip trip to vegas?

Also can someone win more than once, i'll be in SC earlier in the month on vacation and I think they'll be down there the same time that i'm down there!

For those who are complaining about freestyle not being included - Why do score?

Those working on the show can't prevent you from freestyling your qualifier. You just have to answer which is worth more to you - the free trip or the probability that you'll be shown on TV for your moves on the pad?
