because if u are 5'6" then you probably have some growning left to do and should get some pads that would support more weight. However, if you are 6'6" then you probably don't have much growing left to do and most likely won't have to worry about weight on your pads. _________________

sorry for going off the subject but i need an opinion on which pad to get..........should i get a BNS DX DELUXE XTREME PAD or a RED OCTANE IGNITION 2.0 pad. I read the bns review and its pretty convincing cuz the foam insert is actually 1 inch thick, the pad is 10lbs, and its half the price of the ignition pad.......the ignition pad is 99$ and has a foam insert but dont know the width of it, dont know the weight of the pad, and yah....... so should i get the BNS DX DELUXE XTREME PAD or the RED OCTANE IGNITION 2.0 PAD....if anyone has any other good suggestions that for which pad to get that lasts long to make the money worth and time please reply
THANKS

I dunno if I would get the Red Octance ignition 2.0, but thats just me. It's a really good pad, but for me the price of 100 bucks is not worth it. I personally have had the MYMYBOX Ignition pad (the one they sell at cyphergames.com) for roughly 8 months, and it is still in excellent condition. This Ignition pad is the same pad as the Red Octane, and it is about 60 dollars cheaper. I take very good care of my pad though. The surface you place the pad on to play also affects the life of your pad. If you play on a carpet, your pad will get ruined much faster, so you should definately mod it. Soft pads are also much more responsive on a hard surface. I built a platform that holds my ignition pad for when I play on a carpet, and when I play on a hard surface I just take the pad out. I'm gonna try to get the plans for it online for people to see.
So I would suggest to get the Ignition pad from www.cyphergames.com, but I have not tried the BNS pad so I don't know how good it is. _________________

I always play with my ignition on carpet. Are you saying that it is slowly getting messed up? Should I do a plywood mod right now? |

well anyway i just got started on my moding on the cheap buttocks madcatz beat pad. I also went to home depot to get the following supplies: plywood, duck tape, hardwood floor covering. ok so i got the wood cut down to 34*39 and got ducktape but i asked the employee the same question and hes like duhhhhh i think you want duhhhhhh masking tape for the hardwood floor covering and im like WtFFFF!!!! so i just got the wood and tape and when i got home i went online i saw a dance cover from redoctane so if you want to get the cover over online (which i think you should *spite having to go through all the trouble looking for one at a hardware store) heres the site http://www.redoctane.com/ddrgamecover.html yeah thats about the only place that sells official good dance pad covers i think other thank buynshop and some other stores...........PeAcE? |

OK heres the deal. I'm now thinking mad catz is not the way to go. But i need an opinion or two before i go click OK. I am currently doing 8's-9's in the arcade and need to know my pad will hold up and read. Should i just go for decent pads and mod them or go for the mad catz and mod the hell out of em? _________________

Thanks for the warning, since most of the times I play on a plastic surface. Just wondering if just placing the Ignition on a square plywood works? I'm not too good at modding Ignitions.
And about ghost stepping. Is it when the pad automatically presses start or something? Cause its doing that right now and I have to unplug and plug the pad to play now. _________________

|

I just got 2 Nuby Dance Pads from CompUSA (found here: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=299398&pfp=BROWSE) These pads look good and have the same grippy bottom as my friends RedOctane pad. I have ordered 2 dance pad covers from RedOctane, and I have been planning to just duct tape buth down to plywood. My friend did this with his redoctane and it works perfectly. I want to know if anybody knows anything about this pad and what mod would work well for this pad. Thanks! |

Well, one of my heavily modded Cyphergames 1.0 pads is finally dying. It lasted a good six months with REALLY heavy abuse, so I'm not too disappointed. I've still got a 2nd modded 1.0 pad that's in good shape, though. But, I DO have a dead pad, so I'm in the market for a new set.
I had my heart set on buying Ignition 2.0s this next time around, so I had a friend bring over his BNS pads (pretty sure it's a DX-Xtreme) last night because I've heard a lot of good stuff about them. Oh my god. Even un-modded, these are the -best- soft pads I have EVER played on. I don't need to go into anymore detail than that.
So here's my question: How do BNS DX-Xtremes compare to Cyphergames Ignition 2.0's? The black foam in the Ignition 2.0s doesn't look as solid as the BNS foam. Here're URLs to compare:
BNS Ultra DX: http://www.buynshop.com/productinfophp3/VG-DDR-ULTDX
CG (?) 2.0: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3532793146&category=11322
Which of the two should I get? I could probably get two of the Cyphergames pads for 60 bucks total, whereas a set of two BNS pads is about $120 including shipping. I don't mind paying $120 for two top-notch Ignition pads, but if the CGs are just as good, I wouldn't mind saving $60. ^_~ |

Dude, get Mad Catz pads! Lawrence can beat Max 300 in the arcade with a D and guess what he got on my $15 Mad Catz pad...a D! He passed Max 300 in a $15 pad! He's also passed any 9 footer on DDRMAX PS2 and gotten A's on songs such as Rythym and Police(DDRMAX), Drop Out (Konamix), Healing Vision Angelic Mix (DDRMAX), Paranoia (Konamix), Insertion (DDRMAX), and Orion .78 Civilization Mix (DDRMAX). GET THE MAD CATZ BEAT PADS - THEY RULE ALL SOFTPADS INCLUDING MY IGNITION 2.0!

Umm... I don't think it's really possible to do doubles with one metal and one soft pad. It'd just feel too wierd. Plus with the height difference between soft pads and metal pads, you'd probably trip or otherwise bust your foot up by accidentally stepping on the corner of the metal pad. |
