I'm a pretty average DDRer (6-9) foot, and I just got a memory card to record my scores with. My friend and I are having troubles getting our memory cards to save. When i put my (generic) memory card in, it says "Inserted" then, "ready", but I'm not sure what to do from here... My friend is also having a little trouble getting his to work... He went out and bought a brand new (PS1 brand) memory card, and it says "memory card error" whenever he inserts it.... It's kinda confusing.... A little guidence on this subject would be great..thanks |

Before the DDR machine will save any high scores on your memory card, you need to have a specific 2-block file on the card to begin with.
The file can be made only from the Japanese 5th Mix game for Playstation (a JP machine or a chipped US one). If you have that game, put in your memory card, go to arcade link, then create new version link data. If you do not have the JP 5th mix, then you can find the file online and copy it to your card using a DexDrive.
Once you have the file on your card, the very next DDR game you use it on (6th, 7th, 8th) will instantly brand it and make it exclusive for that version only. What's more, you cannot have two of these link datas on one card.
I have neither the JP 5th mix nor a DexDrive. When I managed to finally get my hands on the new version link data file, I copied the file before I branded it. In other words, if all else fails, PM me and I can sell you a memory card with this fresh file on it for $5 US.
You should insert the card some time before you begin the game up to the point before you select singles/vs/doubles, and not remove it until the announcer tells you to. Doing so at any other time gives the DANGER warning. As for your friend's card giving the memory card error, I don't know. Maybe the card is not formatted? Maybe it is defective. Third party cards supposedly cause a problem too but I've never known of any specific cases of this.
Good luck. |
