Long time lurker, first time poster here.
Here's the low down on my DDR skills. I started out buying DDR MAX for PS2 and have a number of accomplishments there I'll list later. I play everyday in my dorm room and got a floorwide dance club going on where every week we do late night dance parties on a big screen. It's a friggen blast.
I've heard nothing but good things about the arcade game. Only problem is our local arcade was torn down to make room for another branch in a fat woman's clothing store. Seriously, I can understand fat clothing needing to take up more space then regular clothing, but did they need a whole nother branch for ponchos and slickers? Jesus.
The arcade at the student union is a complete ripoff. 75 cents for 3 songs sounds like a pretty expensive habit to get into, so until I can scope out another place or can convince people to pool the dorms money to buy an arcade machine, I'm stuck.
As most people are, I'm the best person I know at DDR, which probobly isnt saying much here. Most probobly wouldnt bat an eyelash at stuff I've accomplished. I'm more interested in freestyling light songs then high scoring but high scoring is what I've been doing as of late.
Let's see, what kinda stuff have I done in DDR MAX? Lessee. AA Max 300 Light, AA All Standard Songs (Not too hard), AA Stomp into my beat Heavy, working on Jam and Marmalade Heavy and Overblast Heavy. I'm a sucker for fast paced songs with lots of fancy footwork and jumping.
So, this introduction is a bit lengthy. Sorry bout that. Anyways, I'll probobly be cruising the forums looking for how to get better at freestylin'. Look me up if you wanna chat or whatever.
** I'll add the photoshop sig and icon later, im lazy right now .
Later, people.

75 cents is too much for 3 songs? o.O
At the closest arcade here, it costs a full DOLLAR for 3 songs t.t
That, and they don't even have all the fricken' songs unlocked!!!!!!!!
They're missing some of the goods ones too... like Xenon, Sandstorm, and (I think) Sakura!!!!!!
/me takes time to expell pent up rage(!)
Gwaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My arcade is ~Kr4pPy~ =-[
But one thing is for sure, the arcade is better than the uber-crappy soft pads for PS2 =-| _________________

BNSUSA Dance Pads arent that bad. Not like the crappy 20 dollar ones that are hazards to you if you start flailing mad in the game. But yes, metal pads pwn you, and there aint nothing you can do about it
I think I'm just nostalgic for the days when I could walk into an arcade and I could spend the entire day there on 3 dollars. Back in the day, Xmen: Children of the Atom was THE game to play where I live. And how much was it? Survey says: 25 cents.
I guess if I can locate a DDR machine a bit further away thats a ways cheaper it wont be an issue, but seems to me the arcade is after your life savings with this addictive game. Call me cheap, but I like the pricetag on DDRMAX Console better . If I was playing in an arcade, I'd have to have torn through *yeesh*, maybe 300-400 dollars? |

The machine at our movie theatre used to rock. It was 4th mix but you could do linkmode for only 75 cent, and you got 3 songs. Now they uped to a new machine but you cant use the same 75 cents for both people. Paying $1.50 for me and a friend to play linkmode is not cool. _________________

free games in florida? wow, im jealous . No, I don't live there but ironically enough my little brother is moving there in the next few months so I'll go ahead and pass the insider news along to him.
Playing 75 cents for link mode wouldve been awesome, I could see spending the whole day at the arcade with friends, but it seems corprate America and Benami want to exploit our addiction (yes, addiction. admit it ) to DDR. I'm surprised the first 5 games for DDR newbies aren't free to get you hooked like the smack-peddlers that they are .
Well, I'll check around town for other DDR machines. If memory serves DDRfreaks has a locations list around here somewhere, yes? I might as well check that out.
Later.

Here (San Diego) you're presented with four choices, all of which give you three songs per game:
1) $1 a game for three songs with crappy pads where no one watches and the owner makes Lucifer look friendly...wait no one goes here anymore.
2) $10 for freeplay with an ok pad but the arcade is so loud you cant hear the machine.
3) $2.50 then $0.25 per game for a good pad with the downside that if you go outside to get a drink have about a 50% of getting shot...and dont bring a car here.
4) $0.50 for a great pad and new machine, with memory card slots. Go with a friend to watch your stuff while you play or everything gets stolen. And bring a cattle prod for the under five population. _________________

...right.... anyways. Oddly enough there is a ddr machine at the other student union on campus and its 50c for 3 songs. Can't get much better than that, especially when I take a look at all the price tags you guys have posted up there. Man, my heart really goes out for some of you (tac-tics ). I guess beggers can't be choosers. Now if youll excuse me, I'm gonna goto the "Which shoes are best for arcade ddr thread" |

theres 2 arcades that are really close to where i live. Closest arcade is $1 for 3 songs and the other one is $1 for 4 songs. But just yesterday my brother found an arcade where you pay $3 and hour and have unlimited play (all 3 places have good machines). And from what i hear ppl there are sparse so once finals are done ill be spending all my time there |
