Strictly 1x tournaments are fine as well. If you don't want to play with 1x, then just don't enter the tournament. Pretty simple.

I already said that, but if you're trying to hold a normal PA tournament, then you should allow people to do their best. If you want to have a 1x tournaments, go ahead, I don't particularly see the point though. You can have NORMAL PA, or Oni tournaments, but a 1x tournament is some weird middle ground which is just going to repel players from both sides.

Wierd how you can be so funny and annoying at the same time .

Most people only find me annoying in 3 situations.

1. When I'm making fun of them.
2. When I'm making fun of their friends.
3. When I'm proving them wrong in a hilarious belittling fashion.

I think in tournaments where the goal is to get the most perfects possible, anything the game gives you should be usable. If I'm playing against Person X on Max300, and he does best on 1x without the bar, and I do best on 1.5x with the bar, then it would give him an unfair advantage if the bar and speed mods were banned from the tournament. Person X would be doing at his best, while I would be at a disadvantage and forced to play with a handicap.

JSB - Where do you play? I'd love to get the chance to see you play.

I think it's fair if both players can use speed mods if they chose to. Now, let's say for me I'm better at 1.5x more than 1x and the other person is better on 2x. Some people are comfortable with certain speeds mods so there is no advantage. Well maybe the spacing of the arrows but nothing changes, you play the same song and you might get different results.

well, lemme start off by saying i am against the use of speed mods to improve your score (check my sig, heh)

but... after reading jsb's posts, i am changing my mind a little. now there is only 1 person in NY who uses speed mods a lot, and that is Hispanic Guy. and i must admit, i tend to favor speed mods not being allowed in tournaments, cuz it gives me a better chance of beating him. well, i never looked at it from his point of view- he is going into the match with a handicap. so yeah... i guess speed mods should be allowed in tournaments... *grumble*

some of you may be asking *why* people like me are so against using speed mods? i guess some of us may 1) be old fashioned, 2) like doing things the hard way, or 3) automatically deem the games default options to be the right way to play. well... the options were put in there for a reason, ppl are free to use them.

i still take pride in my scores that are better than Jeff's (Hispanic) even tho he used speed on the same song. tongue.gif

Actually I am color deficient as well, and I have no problem reading the default vivid colored arrows in the arcade.

Stepmania I have a problem with though.

You can not get special privelages just for having a disability. They're making a fuss over letting a cripple use a golf cart on the PGA tour for christs sake. If you're an archer you can't say you have parkinsans, and expect them to let you use a crossbow.

Solo is fine if both players agree, but since it changes YOUR, and the OTHER persons arrows, theres a huge problem if they're not on the same page.

The hard way? To me, a song is on 1x is just as hard as the same song on 1.5x. Yes, even BAG and songs like L'amour.

Not that I want to turn this into a bar debate, but didn't I see GPF Lith claim that a bad knee was the reason he had to rely on the bar?

If that tournament was no-bar, you'd have a point, but I don't see what you're saying. Anybody could use the bar, and since GPF Lith qualifies as a member of the group of people known as "anybody" he used the bar. He was given no special privelages or exceptions in that tournament.

Using the bar in a tournament that allows the bar, and trying to say you REQUIRE solo because you have a disability are two different things entirely.[/quote]
