Let's try this again in the right forum.
I've been paying attention to Feet of Fury for a while now (www.feetoffury.com); it's a homebrew game for the DC, the first I'm aware of that's been pressed and sold. Basically it's kind of a cross between DDR and an Item Battle/Puzzle Fighter type of game. The emphasis is strictly player vs. player (no double mode), and you can do certain things to screw the other guy up: shuffle his arrows around, make the arrows spin, oscillate from side to side, speed up 2x, phase in and out of visibility or combinations of the above, as well as a couple other effects. I've just gotten my preordered copy from The GOAT Store (www.goatstore.com), and it's pretty cool, with several improvements on the original. There's also a typing mode you can use with DC keyboards, to practice your rhythmic typing.
What I think is really cool about this is that it's the first expandable console dance game. It is written in such a way that you can swap in a (specially prepared) CD with additional songs in ogg format and steps in DWI format. There are some differences (they didn't want to make a copy of DDR), i.e. the game won't recognize freeze steps, BPM changes, or triplets. But still I think this is really cool, and should extend the life of the game way beyond when I get tired of the included songs.
It looks quite professional, has nice packaging, and is a cool game by a couple of hobbyist developers. And at $20, it's pretty cheap for a dance game. As you can tell, I like it, and I think y'all should check it out. |

You mean you actually paid money for it? I'm so sorry to hear that...
Yeah, it's got a lot of things going for it, but the fact is it's LACKING. The inability to include triplets is somewhat crippling. You may not think that there's a lot of dance music in 12 beat, but then I would suggest you listen to some nu-school gabber from the likes of Art Of Fighters, Bass D. & King Matthew or DJ Delerium.
BPM changes and even stops can be adapted (sorta, you can't reproduce HVAM's ability to completely mess you up) but freeze arrows are practically a MUST at this point.
Plus which, this was NOT meant to be a standalone game. Okay, that's fine, but the tracks included with the game are lackluster to say the least. The steps remind me of the days when Konami didn't really think to coordinate the steps to the music. By this I mean 1st Mix. Okay, whatever, you're supposed to provide your own stepfiles, but it's not like I have nothing better to do with my time. I don't even have a DC dance pad. Well, not anymore anyway.....
But yeah, they could have done a better job with the "polish" of the game. _________________

This is like the 3rd time you've made a thread like this. With the same post to boot.
Anyway, Feet Of Fury I downloaded, and I personally think its rather mediocre. You're better off buying DDR Club Ver. and a mat. _________________
