I like the small controller, but I REALLY need to upgrade to the ASC. I can pass everything in the game except a few songs (Galaxy Forest EX, Classic 4 Hyper) and I am sick and tired of getting lowered scores because the "essence" of my hand registered a button hit. That is so retarded.

Do you guys think that using the 'hi speed' option is good for learning on the various Pop'n mixes?

I was messing around with 6th mix last night and turned on '2x hi-speed' and noticed my great count was alot higher than normal.. (I'm playing 5 button, btw) except on Daikenkai, which the drum part usually gets me regardless of speed anyway happy.gif

Also, I don't suppose anyone can recommend a good layout for hand placement on the konami controller (the small one)? I've gotten into the (bad) habit of only using my index fingers for most of the 5 button songs and I don't think that'll help my game when I attempt to move to 9..

Thanks!
D.

I play HS4 on all songs 160 and below. HS3 on everything above.

I taught myself how to play everysong (hold Screen and the rat song... forgot the name) on HS4. So whenever I play a new mix with new songs, I am never surprised with the speeds. Everything is cool.

Since I have a strange tendency to kill this thread whenever I post, I will proceed to do it again.

It has been confirmed that The Atlantis hotel casio resort will be getting a Pop'n Music 9 machine very soon. VERY soon. Kick ass for me. To let you know... I'm the only pop'n player in all of Nevada. How fun. =p

Everyone I've heard of that has an ASC got it from Rinkya. They can get really expensive though.

Anyways, I hadn't played Pop'n for a week or two and decided to play 7th the other day. I put it on Free Mode and somehow managed to get this score on Lounge (I think the song is called Dipanche or something like that). I thought it was kinda funny how the max combo is one less then the total amount of songs.

Edit: It's on Hyper, which for this song is only 4 stars, so it was pretty easy. I was still happy though! Does anyone else have pictures too?

Well, I couldnt take it anymore...I broke down and ordered an ASC from Himeya...*sigh*...I hope I dont end up regretting this decision.

But in the meantime, Im a pseudo-owner.

ordering the Pop'n ASC from himeya is MUCH better than from rinkya.

A. it'll cost you less in the long run (rinkya adds commision and extra shipping)

B. It's guaranteed new out of the factory. Meaning you're the first person aside from the guy who packaged it that's EVER touched it.

C. They're shipping is rediculously reliable.

basically, I recommend it, I ordered my ASC from them in december of last year, and it came in march (but that's because it was the preorder, the controller hadn't been made yet) but I felt that it was probobly the wisest way to go about it once it came to my house. There was absolutlely NOTHING wrong with it, and like I said, I got to be the first person to use it happy.gif.

I trust himeya with my importing more than any company online. They special order stuff, have great customer service, and for being based out of japan thier prices are pretty good.

that's because most of the other discussion is stuff I just don't really get involved with. And besides that statement isn't true. I said I play HS4 on songs 160 and below and HS3 on everything above without mentioning my ASC once.
