I was playing amplitude today and when I was catching powerups I came to the conclusion that there should be new mod in DDR, it would make the game a lot more interesting. . no that it's boring by a long shot.

Frenzy This mod would cause arrows to all of a sudden switch position and create a different footing. EX: a right 8th note would spin around and turn into a down arrow.

Random Scroll This mod would make the scroll of the arrows change direction all of a sudden. Even sideways.

Chaos This mod would make the arrows spin around in place .. I don't think it would cause too much confusion unless you got careless . .but still fun to look at.

Fx This mod would be a metronome that made weird noises when to stepped on the arrows.

Hmm .. can't think of anymore. All I know is:

1.5 Boost Frenzy Random Scroll Chaos would kick buttocks!

Konami and Capcom should make a DDR fighting game much like puzzle fighter.

*FC an 8th note run on Max300*

"SHINKUHADOUKEN!"

Exactly, so what's the point of the thread? Unless Konami performs a miracle then maybe another DDR mix will come out. LoL

HAVE FAITH! DDR will never die (at least in our hearts).

Here's a mode to think about: REWIND ARROWS.

Example: A song is playing a segment. Arrows freeze all of a sudden then voice in back ground says someting like "Do it again DJ!" and it rewinds back to that same sequence. Then it plays that same sequence and goes through the whole song regulary.

Other modes

Light arrows: Must press arrows instead of stomp to score (like for slow songs)
Heavy arrows: Opposite of the light arrows (like for a MAX300 song)
Bar arrows: Must do some kind of interaction with the bar to score (bar rapers unite)
Para Para mode: Mix Para Para Paradise with DDR, nuff said
Matrix mode: Must actually do matrix walk on machine to score
Judge mode: game actually scores on your freestyle dancing (like this will ever happen)

Ultra Chaos Mode: My personal favorite. Instead of the pad being a 3x3 square it'll be a 9x9 square = total chaos
Ultra Round Mode: Another personal favorite. It could only happen with 1 player and machine cost will be extra extravagent. The pad is actually a circle around the machine and the screen is also around the machine. So the machine is actually a huge dance circle (imagine the freestyling). Although it might be not called DDR since it's a totally different idea.

Thanks Peanut Gallery/Official Konami press release.

The point of this thread is a "what if scenerio". Obviously it had some point or else you wouldn't have posted in it. erm.gif

At a change of pace ..

Hawkeye I really like some of your ideas, the sure would make ddr a lot more interesting. nerd.gif

It's not official that there won't be another new version. There is already talk about a new mix. Besides, this is not about Extreme being the last mix, this is about new elements.

For a new mod, FART:Every time you hit the arrows it makes a BIG farting noise. Perfects would be really loud juicy farts and so forth. And misses and boos would be kitty farts. Yes, I am serious when I say this because it would be SO FRIGGIN' FUNNY! E9.gif You would more likely fail the song from laughing so damn hard!

Hahaha!! I second that "Fart" mod. oh man... I would seriously cry if they put that in any music game ever... Tears of joy!

My other personally desired mods would be:

Drunken Hyginx: This modifier is external, and has a big device that tries to make you fall over at random parts in a song.

Crackhead Master: an amazing slew of arrows come out all the time, but you only have to hit certain ones that you'd have to be on crack to know which one is right... or hit them all.

Mr. T: This modifier puts Mr. T saying "I pity da foo!" whenever you miss a step.

Serious mods:

Instant Death: One non-combo hit calls up the "failed" screen.

Dark + Flat: Two arrow appearance mods at once. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to play Sudden, Shuffle, Flat, Reverse, Dark at the arcade... ;_;

All the mods used in Oni modes in 8th mix available for use in normal play: There are some crazy mods that they have (see trick oni)... and I want to die, because I can't learn to use them without failing an oni course many times.

Note that my posting here does not acknowledge or deny the existence of a new DDR mix. My posting here is completely irrelevant of that particular topic.

Most realistic mod: Stacatto steps - After stepping on it, you must immediately remove your foot, or you'll suffer a Miss.

Interesting mod: PIU's Wild/Groove steps. If enabled, certain arrows in the song will be labeled as "optional", and if they're stepped on, they will change the step pattern of forthcoming arrows.

For the poeple asking about the "talk" about a new DDR...
DDRSpot has an interview with Akira Yamaoka and Hirotaka Ishikawa. Ishikawa is the producer of the DDR series. In that interview, Yamaoka is quoted saying the following:
Akira Yamaoka wrote:
Right now, the problem we are having with BEMANI is that there are two different routes in the music -- the game music and cover music. The gap between the two is too huge. What we are trying to do is to unify the two into one. We are also trying our best to create a system where both veterans of BEMANI and newcomers can enjoy the same game at once. There are lots of rumors with BEMANI, such as Extreme is the last DDR, 9th Style will be the last IIDX, and so on. However, we have no intentions to close down our BEMANI section. We strive to fulfill our fans' needs.
Of course, they may *want* to make a new DDR game, but this doesn't mean Konami will want to publish it, so while it is a positive development, it's far from confirming that "OMG!!1!11! Koamni is makins 9nd Mix!"

DDRSpot says in the opening to the interview that, following the interview, it was confirmed to them that a new DDR arcade mix was being developed, DDR Extreme and IIDX 7th Style are getting PS2 ports, and KBM may be coming to the US. However, since DDRFreak hasn't published this yet (nor anyone else that I know of), and it's been on DDRSpot for the last three weeks, I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in it yet.
