E2.gif I recently played the legend of Maxx on standard, it was given a 9 foot dificultly rating, I think it was much easier. I'm disappointed. I can beat every cata (but cartoon heros) and was looking for a challenge, but heavy legend of maxx is too hard for me at this current moment in time. Just thought I'd say something. (Been playin' 4 'bout 5 months)

I find The legend of MAX pretty difficult. Long 1/8th runs at 167 BPM, lots of turning, sets of three 1/16ths (at 167... quite fast) thrown in... the jumping at the end...

Somehow, when songs get fast, people seem to think they're easier. All the 10-footers (except bag, which is just weird) are HARD 8s on standard. I think just about all of them deserve to be 9s on Standard... except maybe PARANOiA Survivor.

I think you should stop thinking about songs you need to pass and start thinking about songs you need to AA...

A Trick/Standard 9 is roughly a Maniac/Heavy 8. Back in 4th Mix Home Version (I think...?), there was a preview version of Smile.dk's Dancing All Alone, and the foot rating goes 2-1-1 (only the basic steps are available). It proves that higher difficulties recieves lower ratings on the same set of steps.

For hard steps, try Daikenkai (H/O), Cartoon Heroes (H), Colors (O), Xenon (H), Bag (H 1.5x or 2.0x)

Or start playing Oni courses. You're ready for it.

Maxx (with two X's) is short hand for MaxX Unlimited. LoM is short hand for Legend of Max (with one X). Saying Maxx on standard is a 9, would be wrong if you didn't state later that it was LoM. Though in many peoples opinions MaxX on standard (8) is harder than LoM on standard (9).

LoM Standard is definately easier than Maxx Standard. I have AAed LoM about 4 times with 39-44 greats and I can barely FC Maxx or even get below like 80 Greats.

On Double however I think LoM Standard is a definate 9 because of the speed you have to go across the pad. But the freeze is fun on Double.

This proves nothing. There aren't any trick or maniac steps, and that's why they are ones. if they could have made them zeros, they probably would have.

Yes, but it was specifically LEGEND, I think the presence of the word legend offsets the misspelled Max

I recommended Bag on 1.5x or 2.0x because it would then be challenging without flat out killing the person asking for hard songs. I think Bag on 1.5 or 2.0 is about as difficult as Cartoon Heroes.

Notice that I didn't recommend either of the Paranoia Survivors because I think it would just flat whoop him off the floor and he wouldn't learn anything.

I think taking things by the learning curve makes people progress faster than those who force people who try songs that's simply too hard for them. "Wussies," you say, but they'll stay wussies if you keep shoving them songs that they can't do up their arses.

It's different. I've seen people A Cartoon Heroes and then get flattened by bag 1x. I, on the other hand, can FC bag easily and have trouble getting under 4 misses on Cartoon Heroes.

Why? PARANOiA Survivor is easily the easiest 10 (not counting bag and Sakura, because they're weird).

They won't get better if they don't play hard songs. If he's already passed all the 9s, all that's left is to push into the 10s? bag isn't even APPROACHING 10-foot material unless it's on 1x. Sakura... is just easy. MAX 300 and PARANOiA Survivor are easily the gateways to 10-footer level. MaxX Unlimited, PARANOiA Survivor MAX and The legend of MAX are all significantly harder, but that's just the way it is.

I avoided 10s for way too long, so there was a long time when I could easily AA most 9s but couldn't even make it past the freeze in MAX 300. Don't get yourself stuck in an avoidance cycle.
