Hi. I'm a newbie who's been playing the game for a month or two. I can play pretty solidly on 6-steppers, I can pass some sevens when the stars align, and I once passed 8-steppin' Max300 on Standard.
However, like all DDR newbs, I have a problem. I can't beat songs! Let me explain. I can play decent at times and other times I get confused with the arrow patterns and trip up. I can accept that. However, I play mostly on the PS2 game, and more often than I appriciate, it feels like I have a song pretty well down, and I end up failing it anyway. The arrows come, I get into position to hit 'em, and when I hit them, I get a boo or miss! Though I know some of these misses are my own fault, but often I lose on a song feeling "pad screwed." Sometimes, it just gets really aggrivating. I'm playing a song I've AA'ed or came close, and then the next time I play it, I get combo'ed MISSES instead! It's not the song is going to fast or anything!!
Obviously, I play on a soft homepad. I've only been to the arcade a handful of times. I was wondering, in all of your experiences, is this sense of "pad screwing" just something I made up in my mind to feel better when I lose or are the softpads actually just less responsive than the arcade pads?
I'm just curious, because it's the only annoying aspect of playing this otherwise flawless game =-D _________________
