i did ps2freaks mod with the foam strips but it's not that. it has to be the actual copper sensor. hopefully i can replace it even though it was modded. |

|
|
I have a Red Octane metal pad, its been working just fine for me the past couple months. I stopped playing for a few weeks and now the right arrow has stopped working. I have checked it and it doesn't register any metal contact anymore at all. I can make other arrows go off by tought it with a piece of meta but this one won't. I am trying to access the center metal square where everything is stored but i can't get it to lift without bending the frame. Anyone have any expereince in this matter? |

After I read this post, I decided to get a CG v2 pad from ebay. I got it a couple days ago, and before playing it I got it modded with ps2freak's mod. I replaced the arrows with thick lexan and stuck thin pieces of sheet metal to the bottom, put on 1/8 inch foam, etc, etc.
When I tried playing on it, I found it worked beautifully -- except for one minor thing, which happens to make most songs unplayable...
While keeping my foot on the top arrow and pressing the bottom arrow, it not only registers the top arrow as having been pressed again but it also holds them down as if it were a turbo controller -- as if I was making many many many jumps at a really fast rate. This doesn't stop until I lift one foot up. The same thing occurs when I hold the bottom arrow and press the top arrow. HOWEVER, if I hold the bottom or top arrow and press another arrow that isn't directly across from it, it works perfectly.
The same thing also applies when I hold left and press the right arrow and vice versa. Has anyone else encountered this problem? |

Use foil tape.
A roll costs like 2 or 3 bucks. _________________

Actually, when my friends and I first modded the pad we did it with aluminum foil, and since then we changed it out for sheet metal because that is how the original arrow pads were set up. We had assumed it was the aluminum foil that was causing the problem, but It still does the exact same thing with sheet metal.
I think maybe it could be a wiring problem? |

Well, he e-mailed me back and said I could exchange it for a new one. Should I still get the new lexan? I have the foam-on-a-roll and put that on but is that enough justice? p.s- im not that heavy of a person. |

Thats my question, anyone know how to remove the center square from most metal pads? I need to remove it to check the wiring but the center square is pretty determined not to be removed. |

You'll want a saw to cut the acrylic, a phillips head screwdriver to unscrew and screw back in everything, a pair of scizzors to cut the insulation tape, and some glue to attach your graphic to your arrow. _________________

So...what type of saw should I use? Would a plain old hacksaw work? |

Ok, I'm hoping for an answer fast so I gotta jot this down quick b4 I go. I just got my metal cyphergames pads from ebay from the user cyphergames. I did PS2Freaks mod and started using them. I play tough songs like Stay, Waka Laka, Paranoia Rebirth, Paranoia Survivor, etc. (DDRMAX 2 JPN) and halfway through the song the pad completely stops responding. If I plug the pad back into the convertor box or back into the PS2 it works again but this keeps happening and I was wondering if anyone else had this happen and how they fixed it. _________________

Hey twilight the middle square is attached to the left and right and up arrows i think so u have to take the arrows off of each of those panels, then u need to unscrew these usually small screws that attach the panels together so do that and if that dont work u probably will never get it off. _________________

Are you playing through your PC via a psx2pc adapter? If so, you might need to get a different one, depending on which one you have. Please tell me which one you have, and I'll do my best to help you out.

Yes I do use it through the computer and this is the one I use.
It works fine for controller ddr...
In my control panel it says "Dual Force Feedback USB Joypad (MP-8866)"
I got it off ebay, I think it was possibly from one of those cyphergames vendors. |

Hmmm, that's the adapter that has the axis problems (it maps to directions rather than buttons, so up-down and left-right combos aren't possible). I would suggest the emsusb2 from www.levelsix.com (Go to Products->PC). It's only $15 or so, and it has no problems whatsoever with axis. Trust me, I has the same adapter you showed me, and it's just no fun to not be able to hit those up-down and left-right combos
