as far as a coin-op ddr machine. NO. konami has put their foot down and no 9th mix for you! There are several hints in extreme that you can pick up on... crazy buttocks onis (legend road) frick up songs (psm ONI) 1998 (year ddr came out) one more extra stage (dance dance revolution). Face it guys it's the end of the line. DDR is DEAD in japan, over ther its all about pop n music right now.. so why would they waste their time accomodating a frenzy in the united states when they don't even get any money off the machines here. As far as home versions, yes they will whore this out until it stops making money as well... sorry to break the news... so go take up IIDX or somethin

No just no, there is gonna be an new coin op system they mentioned an new mix in the interview and its more than likely it will be arcade. You are a very opinionated arguer. Be a lawyer. And DDR isn't really dead in Japan, and they even freakin said(back to the interview) that "We have no intentions of stoping DDR in the United States)"(Not exact words) so yea. oh and since u are a no0b to the forums welcome, and don't make that a habbit

I think if I were to pick up IIDX then I would like it more than DDR, but right now the only music games around are:

Drummania - 50 cents
DDR - 75 cents
Pump it Up - $1

I mostly play DDR and Drummania because they are the cheapest.

Pop'n Music is a fun game, that's why its the most popular bemani game in Japan right now. Followed by DM and GF and then IIDX after that.

IIDX is a fun game too. That's why ppl like to play it.

I like playing both games, thats why I have a pop'n music arcade style controller and a BM IIDX arcade style controller to go with PNM 6 and 7 and IIDX 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th styles.

My friend has Pop 'n Music at his house (though not the controller). It seemed kind of lame to me. I do not know why it is the most popular Bemani in Japan; I guess they got tired of the good stuff, and now play whatever crap they can get their hands on...

Well if he doesn't have the controller then how can you expect to really play the game? I mean what would you think of ddr if you had only played it with a psx controller? You'd say it sux of course and it was boring, but when you use your legs it is fun. Well its the same with pop'n, when you play with the controller it is a lot of fun, in the same way beatmania IIDX is fun. (note i didn't say beatmania, because i never play the original BM E15.gif )

If you actually enjoy playing DDR, why do you all look at the game as if it's hanging by a thread on life support?

....

Don't you, as a fan, at least want to have a positive outlook toward a game that you enjoy playing, as opposed to trying to look 'cool' by spreading news that 'DDR is dying' or 'DDR is dead' or 'The end time is near'?

I think about that everytime I see a "DDR is the last" or "This is the final DDR in arcades" thread. If they don't make another mix, whatever. I'm trying to have fun playing the game. I mean, it's going to happen...no more new DDR mixes in arcades, and that's fine with me because there's always GF/DM, IIDX, and a crapload of other games. I'm in no rush to see a new arcade version.

Maybe we should flood Konami with emails asking them if there is going to be a new arcade mix for DDR. Let's show our interest and help fight for what can be the longest running arcade series ever!

VERY stupid idea.

NEWS FLASH: ALL DDR arcade versions after 3rd are FOR SALE AND USE IN JAPAN ONLY. Plus, most, if not all, of our machine systems here in the staes are bootleg. If we were to petition Konami for a new mix, and they knew Americans were the ones asking for it, they'd have more reasons not to make new ones: because they won't make any money off of it. Extreme is a great mix, and it's gigantic, plus they revived old songs.

It isn't certain if we'll get a new mix, and at this point, it's very sketchy, so if you want to cry and wait, fine by me. I think you're looking to the future and not appreciating the present. We're very, very lucky to have any of the mixes we have now. Konami could in fact take legal action anytime, and say goodbye to all of our DDR (ALL bootlegs). Konami also closed their American coin-op office, so don't expect a new American mix, ever.

I myself think DDR is done now, becuase it has lost popularity in Japan, and remember the little squabble and crying about the loss of Smile.dk in DDR mixes? Butterfly is back in Extreme. You tell me why Smile.dk hasn't appeared until now. Wait... I think I may have an answer. Don't quote me on this, but... I believe that Konami can in fact avoid confrontation with Smile.dk if this is the last mix. I believe that to be my largest piece of evidence.

Now let's see... are you still moaning about a new mix at all? Because if you are, you're missing out on Extreme, probably the greatest mix yet. I wouldn't be upset if this was our last mix; we've been blessed with hundreds of great songs and good times that we'll never forget. What's to get upset about? If it's dead, it's still not over, am I right?

Konami is a hard company to understand. They have many divisions. KoJ themselves has many divisions. One being Bemani which is the driving force behind the music sim games. KCET which is the producer of DDR is also under KoJ. All mixes in the arcade (with the exception of Dance Stage) are produced by KCET. This includes USA mix. The USA mix was made by AM division of Bemani west. In other words, even the USA mix comes from Japan, it was just the only one that was licensed to be distributed in the US. All other mixes had the disclaimer "for use in Japan only, unless with written concent from Konami."

Konami understand that when they produced USA mix that we were not ready for it. That is the reason why they pulled the plug on Bamani west so early. Now they realize that there is a upward trend in the US and shifting it to the US market. That is the reason why KCEH (Hawaii division) is producing Ultramix for Xbox.

By the way, KoA arcade division is not dead. It is called their Gaming Division. The gaming division produces gambling machines. Their way of taking their little percent of a trillion dollar industry. So, I don't think their arcade division is hurting all that much.

If all of you look at your Konamix and your DDR Max you will notice that they were also produced by KCET. KoA is just the marketing factor and doesn't credit any KoA programmers. The only two that you will see credit for KoA programmers are for DDR PC and Ultramix (both produced by KCEH).

So, if in fact if it is as dead in Japan as everyone says it is, then we have a few choices to make if we want the series to survive in the arcade.

Have KoA or KoJ reopen the AM Division of Bemani West. The only reason I say that is because I couldn't find out which branch that division orinated.

Flood KoA with e-mails to have their gaming division be able to put out console games so they can start to produce their own DDR machines.

Flood KoJ to keep producing more mixes in the arcade. Maybe not so many, so close together.

I myself would like to see either of the first two happen, because that would only mean that they could produce more of the Bemani games here in the US. Games like Pop'n Music, IIDX, Drum Mania, and Guitar Freaks.

One more thing, if they were to produce another mix what would everyone like to see in it? more onis, more mainstream songs, or maybe even a battle mode like Dance Magic.
