unfortunately i heard extreme was their last mix.
though fans might get impatient and demand another mix, and konami would prolly have to release another one to please their fans =o) |

Wrong, in the ddrspot interview, they said that there will be a new version although they don't know when....they're currently working on the ddr extreme home version for ps2. |

The recent interview also cautioned us not to listen to rumors of any Bemani game being the last in anything. I think Konami will create a new DDR mix for the arcades eventually if enough arcade owners demand a new edition. But if this happens it won't be for awhile. It probably won't be until the December of this year. Sorry, you got to wait awhile for new DDR mixes. That's just the way it goes. Have fun with what you got. Personally I'm still glad I am no longer stuck with Max2. |

as far as a coin-op ddr machine. NO. konami has put their foot down and no 9th mix for you! There are several hints in extreme that you can pick up on... crazy buttocks onis (legend road) frick up songs (psm ONI) 1998 (year ddr came out) one more extra stage (dance dance revolution). Face it guys it's the end of the line. DDR is DEAD in japan, over ther its all about pop n music right now.. so why would they waste their time accomodating a frenzy in the united states when they don't even get any money off the machines here. As far as home versions, yes they will whore this out until it stops making money as well... sorry to break the news... so go take up IIDX or somethin |

I believe that there still has to be one more mix of DDR. I just know it. If they said they won't close the doors of Bemani games, then that means there could be another DDR game that will be released. Eventually, everyone will become interested in DDR again over in Japan. It's like when I got bored of Phantasy Star Online. I eventually became interested in it again. If they aren't going to be comming out with another mix of DDR, then it's possible they could be working on another dance simulation game. _________________

Umm, DDR isn't as popular in Japan as it is here anymore. So unless Konami wants to loose a whole mess of money by us buying bootleg upgrade kits of 9th mix, i really don't see OUR demand persuading them to do anything.
Don't get me wrong....I wan't another mix just as much as all of you. |

That's what was said about Max, Max2 and Extreme before it. Only Konami can say for sure that there will or will not be a new mix.
By the way.
It's lose not loose, and want is not a contraction.

not everyone buys bootlegs...
I know of some legitimate version in the US (one being right near my house) so I think we do have a say in them producing a new mix...we're buying it! Also the bootleggers want a new mix too...so they can sell it to us of course! This is their hottest product so they want Konami to make one...and they have to buy (or steal) one to make a bootleg so somehow Konami somewhat gets the money (I AM NOT ENDORSING BOOTLEGGING!) _________________

Honestly I didn't read that. I always heard Extreme was the last and assumed that... but I never saw that interview until now. Woohoo another system! |

I have heard from a reliable source (E3) that "Konami has no plans to make another DDR version for arcades."
Then again there's the whole "DDRSpot interview."
I personally believe the former. But I guess there's no point in putting your foot down on anything anymore. _________________

That doesn't mean that some of the rumors might not be true.
They said that they're not shutting down their Bemani section, not that those rumors are false. They could be true, and Bemani would still be going with Pop'n Music, Guitar Freaks, and Drum Mania.
Of course, I hope the rumors are false... but the outlook doesn't seem good. |

First off... right now they're working on MAX2 USA. And judging from the abysmal sales of MAX2 for PS2 in Japan (just under 7,500 copies in the first three days, and less than half that in the entire week that followed), I would be really, really surprised if a Japanese Extreme comes out for PS2 at all. (But recall there are very few licenses in Extreme, so we'll get most of it in the US eventually anyway.)
And yes, DDR is quite dead in Japan. There are many, many more machines in the USA now than in Japan... they're just not interested any more. There won't be another arcade mix of DDR as we know it right now. At least, not for several years... and then, maybe they'll almost, kinda, sort of consider it... maybe.

If deja vu is what people think it is suppose to mean, then this is like deja vu all over again, from 5th Mix to 6th Mix to 7th Mix to Extreme. Then again, history has a nasty habit of repeating itself.
Speculations aside, here's my two cents: If you actually enjoy playing DDR, why do you all look at the game as if it's hanging by a thread on life support? Did you take a 2 million bet in Vegas that 'Extreme is going to be the last mix', or did the DDR-nay sayers finally break you and now you wish you have never touched this god awful sweating game your entire life? Don't you, as a fan, at least want to have a positive outlook toward a game that you enjoy playing, as opposed to trying to look 'cool' by spreading news that 'DDR is dying' or 'DDR is dead' or 'The end time is near'? _________________

I don't know if we'll ever see a 9th Mix of DDR, I see them continue DDR for home versions and that's it. |
