i've been playing ddr for over a year now. YAY. well um...a few months ago we had some pretty bad storms that fried the tv in the basement where i'd play ddr, and now the ps2 is in my brother's room (where there is no room to fit a ddr mat) and i'm going nuts.
anyway, i was just wondering for those who have played 1+ years, how "good" were you by then? i'm only at i can beat every darn basic song and most trick songs below 7 feet, then again you have to remember i haven't played in forever (i practice...i just bounce all around on the mat...*cries*)

Well, if you aren't looking to get better. Then that's cool.

However, the majority of people who play can get to your level within a month or so of playing.

they just might not have a brother who just about takes over a gaming system. i didn't mention that. that might have been helpful.

then again, it also depends on the time you have to play. i got ddr right before i had my final exams. then i had all this 8th grade graduation blah blah blah stuff. (and besides that...i had a preowned mat..it died very quickly

OH it so sounds like i'm making up excuses

I just passed the year mark. My accomplishments thus far: AAAed 10 heavy songs, made it to the end of Legend Road (didn't pass though. DAMN PSM oni), have AAed almost every song, save the last two in red on the DDR Extreme list, finished Demon Road.

I recently passed the three year mark, have AA'd almost every single heavy song (except the 10 footers, but I'm like 5 perfects away from my first 10 foot AA). And have AAA'd only one heavy song, three more soon to come.

~Peace~

I've been playing for almost a year (but I didn't play for about 4 months a while ago), and I can do almost all the 10 footers with a good grade on them, can AA a handful of heavy songs, and can do a few oni courses.

I'm right around a year, and I picked it up quick.

Catas - Lost count
FC's - couple dozen at least
FC Catas - 3 (Rhythm & Police, My Summer Love, Tsugaru)
10's - 4
Onis - 7, including Paranoia Brothers, currently working on Happy Hardcore.

There you go. First Cata only took me about 2 months.

I beat my first cata (in the arace) after like 5 months of playing (I didn't play every weekend, more like twice a month--I don't have a home mix)

But don't feel discouraged--practice makes the master.

After 2 years of playing:

Passed all onis on max 2 except Demon Road 1, Demon Road 2, Cool 7, and Tempo Changer.

AA'ed all songs on Max 2 except Maxx Unlimited.

Got 86.1% on Demon Road 1, highest I have gotten.

Hmm... a year after I started? I was horrible.

I started June 2000 with the playstation USA DDR. Sometime around October 2000, I sprained my left ankle and couldn't play for several weeks. Discouraged by my injury, I kept off the DDR even after my foot healed. I started again summer of 2001. At the 1 year mark, I'd say I was about the 4-5 foot level. After playing through 2001, and into 2002, I started getting better very slowly. By summer 2002, I could usually pass the two 9 foot songs with a B. November 12, 2002, I got DDRMAX for ps2. Since then, I've gotten a bit better... :]

So there you have it. Although it took me 3 years to get as good as I am now, I'd think anyone could do it in about a year. When people ask me how long I've been playing, I usually say about a year. I don't want to discourage them by making them think it takes 3 years to get to my level, and at the same time I know that I really haven't been -playing- for 3 years.

The other weird thing is, I really can't remember how I progressed. I don't remember playing most of Basic, and I can't remember myself playing Trick at all, or when I made the transition to heavy. I only remember playing HYNBM in my basement the day I got it, and the next thing I remember is spinning to BB$ heavy before I knew how to crossover to it riiight.gif. When people ask me when I transitioned, or how long it took me to get to heavy, etc. I can't answer them... my DDR life is a mystery E11.gif laugh.gif

I'm about a year now. I'm not that good.

I play like 2-3 times a week at the arcade, maybe 2-3 rounds at a time. Cant play at home anymore, borken pad, though Im going to get a new one when school ends.

Lets see...

9 footers passed: maybe 15 or so.
Heavy FC's: about 4-5
AA's: none...
Got a C on V oni last night, probably the hardest cata I've passed yet.

I have been playing since the beginning of April '04, im currently on heavy and i havent really AA any heavy songs, although i do really well on a good deal of them. Im not used to the arcade pads yet, im getting really close to it though. My red ignition pad is doing well so im hoping to be able to be a really advanced heavy player by the time april comes around riiight.gif My first competition is on heavy at the end of march '05. I cant wait E4.gif

I AA'd Max 300(heavy, that is) in 10 months of playing.

It just depends on the person and how much you play.
