|
|
Hi all. My local 7th Mix is out of order for the 2nd time in about a month. The CD drive seems to be messing up again. The arcade owner is not happy with this.
When the machine's back up, they won't let me enter the code to unlock all the songs, just in case that had something to do with it. Is this even possible? I do not know if our machine is a bootleg or not.
The manager was saying now that DDR is out of order, a lot of people have suddenly stopped coming to the arcade. They want to get another "Big Draw" game to keep the people coming. They aren't considering another DDR mix, especially now given the circumstances. They are even afraid to upgrade it to Extreme since they heard that 8th Mix supposedly craps out more.
What is the best reliable game our arcade should get?
Please post your best suggestion and reason for it, but don't diss anyone else's choice, okay? Everyone's opinion is valuable. This might quickly get a lock for some unknown reason, but a squabbling thread always gets locked.
I was thinking another Bemani game would be good, but have never played any. It doesn't have to be a music game though. I certainly don't want to suggest some dog of a game few people will like. Keep in mind our arcade is small and cheap. Thank you. |

Some good games that draw in money at our local arcade:
Time Crisis 3 - Fun to play over and over again and try to get highscores, you get to switch guns and is much more upgraded from the 2nd.
House of the Dead 3 - So much more involved and has a good story I can't stop playing this.
Drummania - Almost like beatmania but with drums, this game is great to play and has a good song selection, also can draw in some crowds.
Initial D - Racing game with some Eurobeat/J-Pop Tracks, good fun, also has a card that you can save your car to. _________________

Outside the fact that you're replacing a DDR machine, could I ask what this has to do with DDR?
Because I'm very tempted to move it to Other Bemani or Non-Music Games... _________________

Actually, the CD drive is out for repairs right now. We should have our beloved game up and running again soon. The owner wants to find another great game to ensure there's always a reason to go there.
I'd love to suggest a "sure winner" to the boss. I'm leaning toward Bemani because I want to try these other games out. Do any of them have the addictability, fun, and staying power of DDR?
Maybe this should have been posted elsewhere. I was thinking "Random Chat" before this (also wrong). Sorry about that. |

Time Crisis 3 and HOD3 would fit well with this situation and draw crowds to play if DDR MAX 2 is out temporarily. |

You said the arcade was small and cheap.
HOD3 and TC3 are both $10,000+ machines. Bad idea.
Drummania might work.... or if you have a lot of anime fans and/or ricers in your area, Initial D could work nicely...

You're never going to get exactly the same audience if you don't have DDR. They could try something like another Bemani game or Pump, but it still won't be the same... _________________

Yeah I don't know of any game that brings in a specific crowd just to play it like DDR does. I mean, people devote entire evenings with their friends just to play DDR, and it definately for my small town arcade brings in a ton of business.
Time Crisis3 and HOD3 are awsome games to play, but I don't know of any groups of people that would come in hordes, like they do for DDR, just to play that game. Maybe I'm wrong, I've never lived by an arcade that has these games, I've only played them when I've been outta town ect. |

Initial D is my next bet, but you really can't try to get crowds with that like DDR. DDR is unique (as you may have noticed). Some people like it cuz it's good excerise. Some people like it cuz they like to dance. Some people like it because it's non violent. Some people like it cuz it's such a huge challenge that's impossible to beat. I could go on and on, but really, nothing would draw like DDR... _________________

Nothing attracts the same audience as DDR.
However, any other Bemani should be a great substitute until they get it fixed. Many people who like DDR also like other Bemani.
Initial D is also a good choice. If you ask me, it's superior to both Time Crisis 3 and HOD3 put together. And I suck at racing games, mind you. Under good circumstances, it can pay for itself within a month. However, it costs $14K. That's right, fourteen grand.
BTW, it's impossible for the unlock code to cause machine crashes. It sounds like a CD drive problem. Just get a brand new CD drive. _________________
