It's impossible for it to bypass the region coding on systems from all regions without a modchip. Besides, how are you going to use the disc? When you hit "eject" the entire system will refresh itself. I can't seem to install the flip-top right, so you'd be expected to use that knife method. Don't order it... they will most likely take your money and run. _________________

Simple question: Are you able to back up Max2 just like Max1 with a patch so it works with the crappier mods? (usb mod). If so, could anyone point me in the right direction? |

Post bug seems to be a problem whenever a mod or admin deletes posts - probably why duplicate posts should only be edited, not deleted altogether. It's almost like it's overcompensating for the loss of a post... _________________

It's really cheap even though you need a gameshark. |
I do the knife swap and it works great for IIDX. Its really not that much of a pain at all. Once you know what you're doing you can knife swap in a second, as long as you have a swap disk.
You *do not* need a GS to knife swap. I did make that specially shaped tool out of a card though. Basically, the old swap trick we're familiar with from the old Playstations ( using the PS-Xchange) still works except that on the PS2 you need to pull a pin rather than use a spring to hold a button down
I was gonna order the fliptop to go with my swap disks but I decided to save myself the $30. Good thing I did. I had the garbage disposal sound once too. It happened when I didn't move the pin back all the way. Heh heh. I think I know why the previous owner of my IIDX had to DVD-Doctor it before he sold it to me. |

I know that with the flip-top mod, you need to make sure the case is screwed on tight. And I mean -tight-. When I first installed mine, all the screws weren't tightened enough and it made lots of bad bad noises. Went back, checked the screws and found out that there was some wiggle room, tightened them and it's good to go.
One thing to note: My version of the fliptop (from Firefly HK) has a wacky screw slot to where just one of the screws will go in but it won't 'bite' on anything. Meaning, that part isn't tight. Fortunately, though, the rest of the screws are tight enough to where mine runs smoothly.
Good luck and may the schwartz be with you. =3 |

Thanks for your help you guys.
I have the same problem with my cover, one of the screws in the back won't go in. But, this is more noise than I ever imagined... I'm going to go and tighten them as hard as I can, and try it now. Thanks for the advice!

OH MY GOD!!!!
I solved the problem. The problem is definitely 100% with the connection with the white thing and the MAGNETIC cone! What I do now to play games, is keep the lid completely open, and simply connect the white-thing to the cone manually after inserting a game! It is a fairly strong magnet, so naturally it won't spin off no matter how fast the disc spins! Awesome!!!! Plus the swap disc for the Japanese consoles WORK!!! Yes! Tony Hawk 3 time! w00t!!!!!111one11
Yes, this is not the best method; because if I were to eject it at all, the white thing would slip down into the laser area... which is not good. So, I'm inserting everything manually through the top now. I will probably get out the wire cutters, and cut off the little pegs that are supposed to hold the white thing in place... but for now, I'm just gonna get a sheet of paper to put over it, so dust doesn't get in. Man, I'm so glad that this semi-works.

Somehow, I think maybe purchasing a US PS2 would have been a safer idea ^^; They -are- only $179.99 new, now... and the model with the built-in IR is coming soon... _________________

It works just fine - but you'll need to knife swap or order a cover mod or something.
You can't JUST use the discs. _________________

I don't understand why none of the PS2 modchips are stealth or some othe method to defeat the anti mod codes. |

Actually, I just have the discs, I just leave the outer top off, and have the other top (The one that truly covers the CD; the one with the white disc) without the screws and use it like that, when it says to INSERT DISC, I just pull up that cover, put in the import put the cover back down, and there you go. No Flip Top, Knife swap or anything else. |
