I think its better for the pad to play in shoes. I weigh about 260 and I played on my v1 cg for about 2 weeks and it was fine, then I played 1 game with socks and an arrow cracked. I think its putting more weighton one small part thats cracking em. Shoes seem to distribute the weight evenly and they wont crack as fast.

I got my v2 yesterday.
Played one game of light mode... the cracking noise is downright annoying, but I didn't see any damage to the arrows.
I immediately went to home depot and they had EVERYTHING needed for the mod. I spent about 20 dollars or so, and I have a lot of tape and foam left over.
All I have to say is... WOW!!!
The response is great. The feel of the arrows is amazing. Me and my friend were getting AA's up the hizzle. The arrows are so accurate.
DO NOT PASS UP GETTING ONE OF THESE. THEY SELL ON EBAY FOR ABOUT 30 DOLLARS PLUS SHIPPING.
Thank you so much for the mod. _________________

ok this is going to be kinda vegue but I would like to know the name and possibly the link to a forum about a pad.
This pad was made by some guy and said it was a perfect arcade replica, pad looked great, came with an option of having a bar or not having a bar. it looked almost identical to a Arcade solo pad and to the Konami one that was made for homes in japan ( the 2000 doller one ) anyway this guy took all these ppl's money and never gave them their pads. Last time I cheaked they were sueing this guy, and trying to get their money back. Anyone know which pad I am talking about? |

My v2 was holding its own for the first couple of days, but now that I've been playing tougher songs (Exotic Ethnic, Max300, etc..) my left arrow cracked. Definetly going to replace all the arrows soon. Also, while doing an oni course, my up button started going berserk. I'm guessing I've been stomping too hard or something and the contact keeps getting pressed? :baffled: _________________

for ur arrow problem, take the arrow off and yipe down the copper contact and make sure that it is clean and no metallic pieces are touching it, and use a dry cloth. And the second thing replace ur arrows with lexan u can buy it at home depot. _________________

First off, I wanna thank everyone for posting good information in this thread, especially ps2freak.
Okay...
I got two CG Pads in february and havn't played them since I've been unable to mod them(Time+weather). I was wondering if anyone had written instructions on how to do the CG mod. I'd feel more comfortable adding foil tape and replacing acrylic etc. if i knew what I was actually sapost to be doing. Syxx Pac(or anyone else), when you went to Home Depot, what were the products actually called that you got?
I would greatly appreciate instructions written in a more detailed manner than whats up at ps2freak's site(http://home.1asphost.com/cyphergamesmod/)
Thanks for any help that's given,
Deadguy
*Also, I found some pictures of the ddr arrows that you need to reprint after the mod, but I forgot to bookmark/save. Anyone have the pictures? Thanks* |

I left mine the way it was, and it broke after 3 days of strenuous play... I definetly suggest modding. _________________

ok, i got my CG ver.2 on ebay from gamewholesailor and i played one song w/o it being modded and it worked fine. then after the second song i played, the bottom arrow just started sticking. so i saw what to do when the arrow sticks and i did it. nothing. its not the acrylic arrow itself, but it's the sensor. its just continuosly pressed down and wont stop. also, gamewholesailor is not selling anymore stuff on ebay. anyone have this problem?or have gamewholesailors email??? thanx in advance |

Syxx Pac wrote: | Here is the simplified and hopefully easy to understand instructions for making ps2freak's mod on a v2 pad.
Step 1 : Go to Home Depot. Purchase ONE roll of 30 foot by 2 inch by 1/8th inch insulation tape and one roll of foil tape. Both of these are in the plumbing section. The foil tape should be by the duct tape. Go to the glass and acrylic section. There will be all different sizes of acrylic and glass. I bought TWO the 12 inch by 14 inch by .093 inch sheets of the .high impact acrylic. All of this costs about 20 dollars.
Step 2 : Go Home. Unscrew and take the four arrow pannels out. Don't play with the sensors underneath. Don't play with the wires. I know it looks tempting BUT DON'T TOUCH THEM unless you know what you're doing. Take the outer wrapping off of the acrylic. Put the pannel on top of one side of the acrylic and draw around it using a magic marker. Repeat for the other side. Then repeat for the other piece. Now, using a saw cut out the design that you just traced. Try putting the arrows you just cut out into your pad to make sure that they fit.
Step 3 : Print out your arrow design. You can find these in the other metal pad discussion : http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=59254 Attach the picture onto the bottom of each arrow. I didn't do this step yet because I'm lazy
Step 4 : Cut out strips of the insulation that are long enough to fit underneath the arrows.
Step 5 : Put 2 strips of the foil tape about 6 inches long along the bottom of the panel over the insulation tape so that it will touch the contact on the metal pad.
Step 6 : Put 4 pannels back in. Don't screw them in. Test it in a song on light or standard that you KNOW you can do really well in PA. If you are getting a lot of perfects, congratuations... You can screw the arrows in and you're done. If you are getting shadow steps or what not, try moving the foil tape so it is not making constant contact with the sensor. I had to do this with my left arrow, because the sensor was not centered.
Step 7 : Play DDR for like 12 hours in a row because PLAYING ON ONE OF THESE IS AWESOME.
Enjoy.
Let me know if you have any questions. |
You, sir, are my hero I was just about to do this exact same post, and you just saved me about 30 minutes These instructions will go on my website, along with new pics hopefully tomorrow.
