i remember playing 1st mix at las vegas. then i get 1st and 2nd mix for the PSX. then it picked up hella nicely on 3rd mix. that was the mix i introduced my highschool buddies to. then i lost alot of interest in 4th mix,5th, and max. MAX 2 got me right into it again. yea, i played for awhile but only on a monthly basis back then. i seemed to enjoy the new extreme songs today. hence why i must go every week.

i must be the only anti fan of 5th mix =(

amen to that also! this game is just too damn fun to give up or lose interest.

Well, DDR isn't as interesting as it used to be now, despite Extreme and new challenging songs like Xenon, Sakura, Bag, and the PARANOiA Survivor series. Besides, I hate playing in my bedroom. There's not enough room and my Ignition Pad 2 keeps moving on the carpet.

I now play DDR once a month at SVGL, and IIDX nearly every day. I have yet to see a Pop'n Music machine.

Call me crazy, I started playing DDR around 00 when 4th Mix came out. I didn't become good overnight. I slowly moved up the ranks of Light to Standard to Heavy on Singles. I never really cared for FC'ng or AAing or PA'ng in that matter until now. I didn't develop my Double Skills until EX came out. I do get what people say DDR popularity about to fade but where I go I see new players each time and regulars. I think I'll continue playing until I get tired of it and accomplish what I want. E1.gif

DDR is an underground game, there are those who get bored, and then there are those who get better... It all depends on how you look at it...

Personally, I do see those who get bored, but I'm not bored... I stopped playing for 3 months and my interest is rekindled when I see someone at the arcade playing...

And hell, freestyling makes the game way too interesting... There are so many different styles of dancing you can implement, and I'm trying to devise one that works for MAX and the Neo-Classical songs... So it'll never end for me...

Teching wise, until I get 100% on all the Demon Roads, I'll never stop...

I think part of the problem is the lack of variety of machines. It seems that every machine now is either a Max 2 or Extreme. There's only so many times you can play a certain mix without wanting to play different songs. I know Extreme has a great songlist and everything but I think a lot of people would like to see some older mixes back to re-gain interest. Since I don't play in the arcades much, I still will play Max 2 if I see it but I would play more often if there was a 3rd Mix machine around (the last one near me is now an Extreme, meaning no 3rd Mix within 2 hours of me)

Oh yeah, that's DDRBOT, he's from around this area where I live. He's a pretty damn good player(even more so for being only 9 years old). He can pass Max300 and LoM on heavy in those snow boots, hehe. laugh.gif www.ddrbot.com

That picture was taken in the lobby of Lowes Theater on the 2nd? floor of the Metreon. They have 2 DDR machines looking out at that view.
Its pretty scenic huh?

Yes, I agree.

I'd say that about three or four months after Max2 got out, just about everyone converted to a Max2. One city has three Max2 machines within 5 minutes of each other.

Now, extreme came out and everyone converted to that. So, it's either Extreme or Max2, which bummed me out because sometimes you want to play those songs that are just a one-and-done like "Movin On" or "Strictly Business."

It's the big companies that are willing to spend money to get a second machine, that way the Third2 or Fifth or Fourth+ stays in the arcade.

I would play the lower mixes in the arcades if they were around (luckily, I will be getting those mixes next week for my PSX, but still).
