what in the blue hell makes you think good charlotte is a good band? i've never seen such shameless (and otherwise pathetic) self-promotion... (example: "hi welcome to all things rock...i'm benji this is my brother joel...we're from the band good charlotte [buy our cd now because we're have our own mtv show!!!!]) not to mention that their music sucks and sounds like manure hitting the fan...did i mention that no drummer wants to play with them?

do yourself a favor and listen to some actual punk...go get some ramones or sex pistols or something

I ment pop rock / pop-punk, not real punk.

anyway, didn't they say in the interview with Akira Y. that they are working on another DDR, though maybe I misread it

The real question I wanna know is WHY?

Why would Konami kill DDR? It's blowing up in america right now and from what media i've seen it's real popular in japan. So why would Konami go and discontinue such a popular simualation like ddr??? disgust.gif

It's not as if Konami has any real compition for DDR Games so there is no threat to their business.

I guess it's just one of those great wonders of the world that no one will have a answer for... E4.gif

So yeah, don't quit playing and they won't quit making.

And to go along with the thread you have to be real careful when picking punk songs for DDR. Stuff like Across the Nightmare ect is close, but not quite like some of the American stuff you've suggested. Personally I think they did a great job with the new songs that came out with Extreme, so just do somthing like that again and I would be pleased. E13.gif

Dillinger Escape Plan.
Give it steps that keep the dance-radar star graph small, and it'd STILL get a 9 laugh.gif

Konami announced DDR Exteme is the final mix.

DDR is dead in Japan, and you haveto realize they really dont care about how popular DDR machines are in the US. Remember, they arent even supposed to be here for that matter.

And another DDR mix would thrill me anyway. The game is getting boring and rather repetitive. I barely find myself playing it nowadays.

But didn't they say that Max (I think) was the last one? And now we've also got Max2 AND Extreme... so how do we know they're not lying? I know we've already had threads about this, but still, you never know if they're lying or not. E7.gif

Although I have my doubts about the interview with Akira Y., I also have doubts about Extreme being the final mix for DDR. It could probably go either way depending on demand.

Oh, and wasn't the full announcement "DDR Extreme will be the final mix on the current cabinet"?

Edit: Personally I want licensed songs from the Dancemania EX series, Speed 10 and Speed G, Trancemania 3, and FantasiA series... drool.gif

Those may not qualify as punk but.....that's kinda close and mainstream rock...

My point, most of those songs suck.

Why does everyone diss on Crash? It's a great song! E4.gif

DDR does need to branch out into more genres though, maybe some deep trance or happy hardcore(high BPMs!), then maybe transition into more traditional music genres. I don't think punk would work so well... but I agree that metal would be good.

I agree with cronimson/// there are some really good anime songs that would be good for DDR. Obsession from .hack//sign would be nice. Others too, but I can't think of them right now.... heeheehee, a DDR Anime Mix, now that's just kinda funny. laugh.gif But hey, it could happen! E7.gif

Night of Fire? Question. It is from Initial D correct? Now is that the anime and or a music group or just an anime? If so then it is on Disney Mix and Konami I think should include a few more anime music titles for new material for stages in ddr. Just a few questions and my two cents.
Yes Daft Punk may make for an interesting ddr stage if not something crazy to use for an anime music video. Not mentioning that the animation on their videos doesn't rock already. riiight.gif
See ya all on the dance pad. E7.gif

You named the two bands I despise the most. Don't even get me started on that generic crap-music that sounds like absolutely nothing at all.

I don't want any of that stuff on DDR. It's a dancing game, and it needs DANCE MUSIC. i.e. More stuff from IIDX, and more Dancemania stuff. period. Also, if Konami wants more Japanese players to get back into it, they need to put more J-Pop on there... like Ayumi Hamasaki or Utada Hikaru.... yes, it would cost them more money, but it would get them more of a mainstream crowd.

And where did they say it was the last one? The way they designed it, it could go either way. I think they planned it that way.

Let's analyzing!!

1998 - DDR came out in 1998, now there's a song named that. With the B2U dog in the background.

Dance Dance Revolution - A song named after the game. Sounds like a final goodbye.

More songs than any other mix - Going out with a bang

No subtitle. It's not 8th Mix, it's just "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme". (Although if you look closely during the menus you'll see some stuff that says "MAX/03".... kinda saying it's MAX3.... but it's not). :-P

A new Trip Machine and a New Paranoia - Once again, going out with a bang.

Then we have the flipside:

"We're Starting Over!!! Thanx to all the DDR players!" - This can be interpreted as starting DDR over again (like with IIDX).... OR it can be thought of as Konami saying they're leaving DDR behind to work on something else, and DDREX is a final thank you to the DDR players.

Konami hasn't made any official remarks about it being the last mix to my knowledge. When Beatmania ended, they made a "Beatmania -Final Mix-". DDR is more popular than 5-key, so I would think they would let us know ahead of time if it was the last one. Of course, you could also say they were holding out just in case DDREX got the same or more attention than MAX2 did.

So you see, it could really go either way. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. DDR still has a lot of players, in both the US and Japan, but it needs something big to jump-start it again.... and that might be what the marketing people at Konami are thinking up right now.... we'll just have to wait and see.... if it exists, it's gonna hafta be big, and Konami knows that. DDRMAX didn't work. They have to do more than that kinda thing.... and if they are working on it, I can't wait to see what's up their sleeve.

Actually, that "MAX/03" statement refers to the number of stages available in each mode (Single / Double / Versus play). If your machine is set to 4 songs per credit, then you'll see "MAX/04" (it actually says "Max Stage" if you look carefully).

^Agreed.

Dance Dance Revolution should contain mainly dance music. The occasional speed metal, jazz, whatever wierd new ethnic songs that Re-Venge comes up with, and variances are fine, but adding songs from GC etc would be goig too far and won't happen. If you look, the few songs that are put into DDR that aren't originals or remixed old originals are *@$&ing old. Let's Groove, So Fabulous, Over the Rainbow, Never Ending Story, need I say more?

DDR mixes need to be diverse. If some people vote for American pop music, heavy metal, and other forms of music then they should be given a chance in a new DDR mix. Regardless of how other people don't like their presence.

As for Extreme being the last arcade mix. Seams dubious after reading the interview. We'll see for sure. Only time will tell.
