Now this was wierd. I was eating dinner at an Indian resturant with my parents. And its a very Indian themed place, they also always have Indian music playing by the bar.

And then I heard a very familiar, ya ya yayayayaya hey! (that was the best that I could translate it to...) The song sounded nothing like affronova, but that one part that I heard was unmistakable, the song even had the bulabulabulabula! part near the end.

I thought it was kinda cool, hearing it in a place that I never expected to... but wasn't this song supposed to be a konami original? I'm not accusing konami of anything, just curious...

afronova is most definatly not indian.
Exotic ethnic and jane jana are the only indian songs in DDR.

Popn and GF/DM have had other indian songs.

As for that sample, you were probably listening to a Punjabi song. They tend to sing like that, and it all sounds the same if you dont know what you are listening to.

For what it's worth, the vocal sample you're referring to has been used in other music before.

Maybe it's just me... But music in other languages tends to sound the same a lot more, just because you can't really understand wtf they are saying tongue.gif.

I totally agree that it's an african song, a couple of my friends were arguing about that.

the song is called afronova. the background has a tribal african. The song features tribal african chants and drum beats.

How the hell is it even remotely indian?

Affronova sounds very African themed to me also, but from that part that I heard in the resturant, I just thought that maybe the origin of the song came from an Indian song of some sort.

Afronove most definate tribal/African feel. EE... Egyptian inspired. The Orions are as close as Indian as you can get. The only reason I can confirm this is of my friends that plays DDR mom (who's Indian) was watching him play. She was like I know what that says. It made like her DDR a bit more. I don't remember the translation.

double you tee eff????

Are you guys just ignorant?

Exotic ethnic is played on sitars and tabla. thats indian.
Orions are played on shamisen with okinawan folk vocals, same with Matsuri Japan. thats japanese.
Afronova is played on african drums with tribal chants. that is central african.

Do you even know what egyptian music sounds like?

....

Next you're gonna say that the tamil song from popn' 9 (nataradin) is mongolian or something.

On the US DDRMAX, doesn't the description of exotic ethnic mention something about being Egyptian-inspired? It's been awhile since I read it... I do [sort of] agree about the Indian sound to it, though.

I'd post this in the What Song Would You Like To Hear In DDR topic, but it appears to be full, so: Which genre would you most like to hear RE-VENGE / RevenG's take on?
1. Native American
2. Irish
3. Australian
4. Chinese
5. American (50's rock, country/western, hip-hop, etc.)
6. Hawaiian
7. Mexican
8. French
9. German
10. Italian (opera?)
11. Mongolian (kidding, I think)

Of course, if any current [RevenG] song does fit these qualities, let me know, although I'm sure that bag is more Scottish... although the bagpipe is common to more nations than to Scotland. [Edit: As are other instruments, of course, including the sitar.]

Islamic/muslim has nothing to do with indian. Indian is ethnicity. Islam is religion. There are a lot of Indian Muslims.

Jane Jana is in Hindi/urdu. The song literally means My Love, don't go.

Native American! lmao! I would be embarassed. I couldn't imagine. Cause' I'm Native American, btw to clear things up.

Afronova=African
Matsuri Japan=Japanese
Exotic Ethnic=controversial, because and Indian from India isn't to Exotic but, an Egyptian is exotic, however, Exotic Ethnic has an elephant in the background which, persuades you it is Indian. I personally think Indian!
Orion .78=I heard Chinese!
Bag=Scottish
Sakura=Japanese
That's what I was told.
