I think you have to get into the 190k range to AAA something. I've gotten 180s and not AAAed on songs before.

About 5th Style, I believe there are 52-56 songs in it, and to unlock all the courses, just clear or get pretty damn far into each course until the original number turns red at the course selection menu. Courses 17 and 18 will be soon unlocked if you keep playing too, and Survival mode becomes unlocked sometime too. I don't remember what the hell I did to unlock everything aside from play the hell out of 5th, and clear all songs in light7.

Ya I heard like if you get a 600+ combo on a song you unlock everything but I havent dont that yet. I think the closest I have ever came was a little under 600 It sucked because I FC'ed the song but there was only like 570 something in the song I think.

Well, a 186,00 CAN be a AAA. Hell, a 184,000 can be a AAA.

However, it's not likely. I've only got one or two that were around 186,000, the rest were usually above 187,500 or 188,00, at least.

Oh, and the combo you need for a total unlock on 5th Style is 634, I think.

Score is a very loose way to determine your grade on a song. The grade is based on EX Score.

AAA = 8/9 of EX Score
AA = 7/9 of EX Score
A = 6/9 of EX Score
etc..

I actually have an excel spreadsheet I made with all the songs from 4th-6th style on it so all I have to do is enter my EX Score and it tells me my grade and how many points I am away from the next grade.

My only AAA to date is 5.1.1. L7...and I only got that from playing it about 20 times in a row while trying to full combo a custom expert course in 5th style.

I got 192,000 on Nothing Can Stop Us or whatever it's called on 4th style once.. calculated it and figured out that it's not a AAA. frust.gif

I hear you. I score around 189,000 on Sync L7 every time now... and that's still usually around 6 Ex-points off from a AAA. Though, 192,000 is really dang high... not to be a AAA. X_x I wonder if the point-scoring is anything like DDR, and the more flashing greats you get towards the end of the song is worth more than flashing greats at the beginning of the song. Hmmm...

Grading in IIDX works on percentages of possible total EX score, somewhat like the grading system of DDR Max and up. A Just Great (the Greats that flash) is worth 2 points, a Great is worth 1, and everything below that is worth 0.

AAA = 88% of total possible ex score
AA = 77% of total possible ex score
A = 66% of total possible ex score
B = 55% of total possible ex score
C = 44% of total possible ex score
D = 33% of total possible ex score

I'm not sure if that's 100% accurate, but it seems to be pretty close from what I've seen.

OK, I hooked the DVD player directly up to the screen, and it worked fine. So I think the problem is lack of communication between the hardware and the DVD player. I don't know what to do about it... Any ideas?

No, Macheezmo was right. It is 8/9 7/9 6/9 5/9 4/9 etc.

As for the regular score, IIRC it's 200000 * (just greats + (2/3)greats + (2/15)goods) / total notes. Or something like that.

They're pretty close.

8/9=.8 repeating
7/9=.7 repeating

And so on. Technically, most of them would round up (8/9 rounds to .89, not .88), but I've been told that Konami rounds down with grading.

I'm too lazy to go verify this. E15.gif

Actually, Konami doesn't use 88% or 89%. It uses 8/9. I've had scores on songs that were 88.87% and 88.9% when I calculated them out, and at first I thought this was all silly and it had to be some sane percent, but then someone on the great big int0rnet of lore reintroduced me to the idea of fractions ;-)

-Crystal

EDIT: Or in case it wasn't obvious how what I was saying was applicable, what I mean is "Konami doesn't round either way".

Call me mentally retarded, but what's the difference between Random and Random+Mirror? I know Random+Mirror randomizes the notes and then mirrors them or something and Random just randomizes the notes...

That's some hard stuff right there. Songs get out of hand for me really fast, and I really am being literal when I say 'out of hand'.

I was reading a recent post from Crystal about IIDX threads being locked, and the lack of diverse topics on IIDX...

Might I suggest bemanistyle.com? You might get what you want there.

Survival mode on 5th style has one of the coolest menus you'll ever see in IIDX. Aside from that, you get three options once you enter:

light7
7keys
Another+7

Selecting one of these will take you to the next menu where you select which order the songs will be in.

The default one is easiest to hardest.
one is alphabetical order
one is hardest to easiest

Something like that. I don't remember, but the bottom line is you are going to be put through all 64 songs in five song non-stop increments, with one bar that is very similar to Expert Mode bar, and only EX score points are tallied at the bottom. I'll get you more info when I get home and play it again. I just remember failing song number 43 on 7keys first time I tried it, and I was pissed, because it was smooth sailing until I got to song 42 and 43.
