When left unmodded, the DPR2 seems to last longer than the Mad Katz, however when modded they're about the same.
diabloslayer469: In general, Ignitions do not develop problems of any kind. You only hear of a lot because whenever one does happen to crap out the poor owner screams at the top of his/her lungs. Just take good care of the pad and it'll be fine. |
a chair mat mod can only help an ignition pad, right? So if i get an ignition pad and chair mat mod it, it will be better than not modding the pad at all, right? |

You probably got the Cypher Games Ignition 1.0. Is the port connector gray PS1 style or black PS2? If it's gray PS1 and you're using a PS2, take extra care when plugging and unplugging those pads. From what I've heard, others have tried the Takami826 mod but couldn't get it to work quite right. I'd say the Chair Mat mod would be the way to go, that is if you have to mod the pads. A possible alternative would be the standard black dense foam, which you can buy from Red Octane for $20. |
What do you mean by people couldn't get it to work right? They couldn't cut the material? The pad didn't work? There were still sticky arrows? Also if i do a chair mat mod, can't it only help my ignition pad? So an ignition pad with a chair mat mod would be better than an ignition pad with not mod, right? |

diablo: the chair mat mod wouldn't hurt anything, and it's better than most of the foam these pads come with. I'm just saying that the BNS insert is supposedly the best insert out there, so try it with that first just to see how you like it. A couple rounds on a "crappy" insert wouldn't hurt the pad.
As for the other mod, I think the main problem was people couldn't cut the material just right, it would shed lots of foam bits inside the pad. It might've been they didn't get the correct material, I don't quite remember the problem. It certainly worked well for Takami826 though.
And yes, the chair mat mod as an insert is applicable only for DX/Ignition style pads, although some have found that mounting a cheapo pad on a chair mat makes a good mod as well. |

I've got a CypherGames 1.0 with a chairmat in it right now. I want to upgrade and do doubles, so I'd have to buy a second pad, plus another chairmat, because otherwise it'd be all... wonky. I just noticed that the CG 2.0's exist, are they much better? Do they still need a chairmat? If they don't, it'd be a better deal to get two 2.0's and attatch those to some plywood, no chairmats. Finally, are the BNS 3.1's worth all the extra money? No mods? _________________

I recently got into playing DDR at home about a week and 3 days ago. I bought two MadCatz pads but they always seem to stop working after about a day or so. I'm going to return the two I have tomorrow, but they won't give me a cash refund. (at EBGames). I've had to return three already...and it's just getting redundent having to return pads every 3 days or so. Sure, I've become a pretty regular customer, but this is getting ridiculous. He's told me there that they don't lose any money when I return them, but I'm losing money on gas. I'm going to take the plunge and buy some metal pads, but I need suggestions on which and cheap ones. I have about 270 dollars to spend on two metal ones and I need a good site that I can rely on to ship them to me. Only one that I have found that is relatively cheap are from DDR Nation. http://www.ddrnation.com/products.htm $100 for each metal pad isn't that bad, but is the pad good? And can I trust the site? Thanks in advance. |

Actually as far as EB games goes they offer warranty's for those pads (or most things really) for 3 bucks a year. Just buy the warranty with it, that way if it messes up (a mad catz pad will) you can just take it back and they'll give ya another no problem. I did that for a few months. Certaintly alot better than buying a new one everytime. _________________

Yeah, I have the warranty on them, but returning them is getting pointless if they are just going to be dead when I get them... |

ok, i was wondering something very important. i have a soft pad and i was going to follow the steps on building the home ddr metal pad, with the wood and sheet metal, but instead i was going to use the sensors from the soft pad and use those, then rewire the buttons other than the arrows to a ps controller. would this work well? to just use soft pad insides for the sensors? |

Heh i modded my soft pad by cutting plexiglas (can't spell) then i put that(with tape cuz i'm lazy) over the down, up, left, and right arrows. Then i just mounted the pad to plywood with a staple gun and tape....... It feels pretty good actually it's definatley not like the arcade or anything but it's alright |

I was considering getting the V3.1 Level Six pads for my daughter and I want something that works with minimum fuss right out of the box.
V3.1 Level Six Ignition Pad
I see a few people here have received pads from them. So overall what do you think of the pads and what kind of service did you get?
Thanks |

Is the Konami DX insert like the foam inserts inside the Ignitions? |

Which pad do you guys think is better - mymybox premium dance pad ver 2.5B or BNS Ultra DX-Xtreme Dance pad? Also, how big is the box that the mymybox premium dance pad ver 2.5B comes in? |

I don't think anyone knows how they directly compare. I will say, however, that a lot of people have had problems with MYMYBox in general, while the BNS Ultra DX-Xtreme pads have been receiving lots of praise as of late. |
