So all I really need is the swap magic disks and do the card trick? From the tutorial they have on this site it looks pretty confusing and heck a long to do. Will I be able to play my japanese import games doing this trick? I would send out my ps2 to one of these installers but they all charge like over $100 to do so. |
the 100 dollars cover the chip and the installation. Most charge about 50 if you buy the chip seperate. _________________

Before I order a fliptop from www.ps2fliptop.net are there any objections? Did these guys rip anyone off? Did anyone order from them before? I know I said I was going to buy one in the old thread but I've been busy since then. Thanks. |

2 questions.
Will a Gameshark 2 work with PSX codes?
Will a PSX Gameshark CDX work on a PS2?
I need to use antimod codes for most of my imports on my PS2. _________________

I was wondering: I am about to get my PS2 Modified. Most of the games I want to get for my PS will have Append Discs with them. Can anyone verify which methods do/do not work with Append Discs? |

holymoly.. tried to install the magic 3.1 today.. what a b..tch!
The 6 solder points on the top chip (grouped 3 and 3) are TINY!!!
I have a .4mm solder tip and i cant get it to take. Afraid that i'll
short the pins as well.. the wire almost does it itself and its 24 gauge,
the smallest i could see at fry's.
Any tricks here ? its driving me insane! |

Last Monday I send my PS2 off to psxtech.com in San Francisco to have it modded with a Magic 3. Good news finally came today when they emailed me back saying the Magic 3 had been successfully installed and tested and that they were shipping it back today. So hopefully in 2 days...if they use 2 day air like I think they do, I'll be able to play my 5th Mix and get jp MAX and jp MAX2!
So assuming everything works when I get it back, I definately recommend sending your PS2 out to psxtech for a modchip. They seem to do a really good job and they keep in contact with you through out the process. _________________

|
|
With the new Dancing Stage MegaMix game coming out for European PS2 later this month, I wanted to raise a question I haven't seen in this thread yet: how does the PS2 do with PAL imports? Is it like a Dreamcast, where the games are "smart" and will automatically re-adjust themselves to run on NTSC settings? I was thrilled when i could import Shenmue II for DC with no problems. And although the songlist overall for DSMM looks pretty lame (under 30 songs? geez!), I'd really, really, really, really like to be able to play Memories and Vanity Angel at home soon, instead of waiting god-knows-how-long...
...so, does anyone have any experience with playing PAL PS2 games on an NTSC system? I have a USA PS2 with a Magic 3.

Im 90% sure the Messiah 1 can play PAL games. There was never a need for a color fix for the PS2 games. I dont see why the Messiah 2 couldn't. Im not sure about the Magic 3 tho. _________________

Well what if you only have a Jps2 and you want to play the us version of the game(b/c its in english). Then you wouldn't be able to do it. |
Nor would you be able to boot the boot discs in the first place, sicne they are region coded for the US.
Look, anyone who wants to continue this swap magic discussion can bring it up in the modchip thread and I'll happily bat things back and forth with you there. Let's leave this thread to MAX2JP discussion. |

Well I got my modded PS2 back from psx-tech today and ohhh man it works awesome. I had a Magic 3.1 installed. I've tested it on ps1 games, backup ps1's, import backup ps1's, ps2's, import ps2's, and backup ps2's and they all work perfectly. I compeltely recommend everybody get a Magic 3.1 and have it installed using psx-tech's mail in service. _________________

The GS2 comes with its own PSX bonus disk that will boot into PS1 mode and let you cheat to your hearts content.
Not sure if the GS3 comes with one since there was no mention of it on the package.

I don't believe so, but I haven't tried it, so I can't be sure. _________________
