I just received my Cyphergames v.2 pad. The arrows seem a little bit flimsy almost, and I'm worried about their fragility when I play... also, I don't see any rubber stoppers on the bottom.... just a big black foam/rubberish covering that is spread out over the entire bottom of the pad. My questions are:

-Are the arrows supposed to sink in as much as they do (maybe I'm paranoid...)? It almost seems like they're going to break if I do any hard songs on it. Do I just have to tighten the screws?

-Am I supposed to take off the big black foam/rubber/whatever material it is on the underside?

-Should I mount it on plywood? I have an extra piece laying around.... If so, how do I mount it on?

I just posted about this, but it's gone for some reason....

Anyways, I just received my Cyphergames v.2 pad and am hesitant to play on it. The arrows seem a bit flimsy and and when I step on them they don't seem sturdy enough to support normal play. Do I have to tighten the screws? Also, I don't see any rubber stoppers that I have to remove, but there is a black foam/rubber-ish material covering the whole underside. Do I have to remove that or should that stay on? Also, how should apply this to plywood? Thanks.

My friend's levelsix metal pad went dead for no apparent reason last night.

We were playing on the computer but for some reason he wanted to play DDRMax so we took the pad downstairs.

Hooked it up and nothing happened. Brought it back upstairs to see if it was registering with the USB adapter... nope.

He didn't mount it on plywood or take of the pegs on the underside of it, and since he plays on carpet, the frame was bent pretty bad. Also the left arrow button had an alarmingly large crack on it.

This is only after 2 weeks of low level use.

So basically level six pads blow and no one can tell me why the buynshop BNS Evolution pads shouldn't be ordered. Does anyone have ANY info on the BNS Evo pads??? E19.gif

Riot, I dont know what you gauge flimsy against on that pad. Mine is about 50 lbs and it is pretty solid. Arrows sinking? Since they are mouted below those brackets they will not be flush. Play the heavies and test it out. At this point unless you plan on sending it back you may as well put it through the test. I would mount it to plywood no matter what. Instead of screwing it in (which seems on the surface very difficult) put it on plywood and screw in pcs of 2x4s around it to hold it in place. This should solve your problems.

Ummmm, try soldering the wire back into the pad like the other arrows?

Lastly, I'm STILL wondering if ANYONE has ANY info on the BNS Evolution pad?

Yeah, you better solder the contact back on. On another note I have to amend my review. I has been a month and the up arrow cracked on me today so that will be my first formal fix. In addition to that the down arrow is fading. This is probably because the graphic is sandwiched between the plastic and metal. This one is a no fix until it cracks. Damn!!! goog.gif

Home Depot here I come!!!

You can get replacement arrows here:

http://www.levelsix.com/products/playstation2/MetalDDR_panels.shtml

I think it is more of the same crap though. Spend the money and make your own. These will crack just like the arrows already on the pad.

Note to all ebay buyers

Please only buy from PaySafe or Gamewholesaler if you plan on getting the version 2 pads.. all others are fakes (such as the seller with "Yang" in his name.) Thought you should know, you don't want a ver1 pad when you can get a v2 for the same price E1.gif

or you could just print out a new graphic (plenty of sites have them... which is what I'm doing to replace faded arrow graphics underneath the plastic) and sandwich it between the plastic and the aluminum. Also... the O button on my pad doesn't work anymore, any suggestions for a fix? I thought maybe it was a faulty conctact but I'm not sure I wanna mess around with re-soldering something.

~Peace~

I received my Ver2 pad a couple days ago from the "gamewholesaler." It worked fine for a couple days. Now when I load up DDRMAX and get to the song selection screen, the songs rotate in a downward fashion and I can't stop it.

At first, I tried rebooting my PS2, still rotates uncontrollably. I've tried unplugging/replugging the pad to the control box, still nothing. I've tried removing/replacing the DDRMAX game, nada meng. So I came to the conclusion that it must be one of the left or right arrows.

I never notice it, but does that mean my left or right arrow is malfunctioning? Which arrow makes the song selection go down? In any case, I removed the screws and used an aircan to blow away any dust, I made sure none of the wires were touching the copper contact board and it still doesn't work.

Any quickfix suggestions? Now I regret for not modding it before playing, but when you get one of these in the mail, you can't help but to play it right out of the box.

That would be the right arrow, try unplugging it, cleaning the contact with a washcloth (make sure to dry it, too), and see if that helps.

I recently got into playing DDR at home about a week and 3 days ago. I bought two MadCatz pads but they always seem to stop working after about a day or so. I'm going to return the two I have tomorrow, but they won't give me a cash refund. (at EBGames). I've had to return three already...and it's just getting redundent having to return pads every 3 days or so. Sure, I've become a pretty regular customer, but this is getting ridiculous. He's told me there that they don't lose any money when I return them, but I'm losing money on gas. I'm going to take the plunge and buy some metal pads, but I need suggestions on which and cheap ones. I have about 270 dollars to spend on two metal ones and I need a good site that I can rely on to ship them to me. Only one that I have found that is relatively cheap are from DDR Nation. http://www.ddrnation.com/products.htm $100 for each metal pad isn't that bad, but is the pad good? And can I trust the site? Thanks in advance.

Take the 15 minutes or so to read through all the messages in this thread and make a decision from there. Cobalt Flux if skys the limit on funds but for $270 version 2 metal pads seem to be the way to go. Get two for about $180 then use the rest of the cash to mod them and make a doubles setup.

Hey, I have a Cyphergames v.2 metal pad, and after a few days my left arrow isn't working. The arrow itself has a crack on it, but I was told it was purely cosmetic and shouldn't effect gameplay. Well, after a little bit, the arrow started to get less responsive, so I took off the arrow and underneath I saw that a little yellow and white wire was partially smashed, or atleast not covered like it should be. Is there any way to fix this? I really don't want to pay 50 dollars shipping to return it...... Please reply quickly, as if I can't figure out how to fix it, I need to be able to still be in the 7-day return time. Thanks.
