Still, it might be my weight that's holding me back. I weigh in at 217 pounds and my stamina just isn't there. I can pass Max 300 Standard, but I'll hope that the arcade employees will have noticed my eyes floating back into my head at the pause in the middle of the song, and that EMS will arrive before the song ends... |
hey don't feel bad about being 217. My fried that plays is 6'3" and is right at 300 and he gets on the pad with everyone else. and is actually getting good at 5 footers. |

Depends on what your definition of the word "suck" means.
On planet Earth, it means the way I play, not being able to get higher than a B on 4 footers. |

DDR isn't a matter or making fun of the people that are new to DDR at all. It's a matter of embracing the fact that after they quit DDR and the bemani scene, those new people are going to be taking their place in the long run and giving YOU something good to look at. That's a point that many fail to realize.
Especially the DDR elite. It's a sad story. Anyway, if you "Suck" which you really don't. Experience is the best teacher. In almost anything you do that affects your life. Dont' say that you"suck" instead say that you're "working on getting better"
We've all gone thru that stage in our DDR lives and everything we do is no exception. Work and dedication will take you out of that non-existant "Sucky" stage. Keep at it and you'll get better. You'll see the results and soon you'll be posting a thread about your AA's and AAA's.
Having fun during this stage is the best way to handle it. Just have fun with it instead of being frustrated and the pieces of the puzzle will fall together. _________________

I can pass 3 footers with B's, but I have a hell of a time with 4 footers. But the game is a blast and I love every aspect of it and the way I play I can only get better. |

Well where I play. There are lots of beginners. And believe it or not, they are female. Many people don't make fun of them. Just their friends! But that's where everyone starts. Being a semi-shy boy that I am. I'm used to the crowd scene. (Used to people watching me do things)
-Dance (Hip-Hop)
-Sk8board
-Breakdance
-Surf
Those are my passions BTW
And even though DDR isn't a "Passion" of mine. I do strive on crowds. It makes me Freestyle harder and play ten times harder when I'm doing a hard song and once and a while I'll give them a crowd pleaser. Possibly a Max or a Paranoia Survivor and do my mods etc. Just for taking the time to watch a worthless young man like myself play DDR.

There's nothing wrong with playing Standard at all. I give you mad props for doing so. There's nothing wrong with Standard!! I don't see where he makes fun of you. I hate those people. I really do. It's their personal duty to make sure that only THEY get the happiness they deserve while you're playing and trying your buttocks off they're probably thinking "Been there. Done that. Just fail already so I can get on." I dislike that very much. Anyway dont let them bring your spirit down. Keep it up and keep playing good. _________________

I'm trapped at 4-5 foot, and kinda plateauing there. But then, I've seen maybe three mixes and since I don't get out to the arcades that often, they're gone before I get a chance to experiment.
Sometimes I feel really bad taking a turn on the game when there's people far better than me - then again, I rarely see anyone at my level of ability ON the things - it's usually the people doing catas.
Then again, I just had my 30th birthday, and at this age, being able to do Boys, End of the Century and Captain Jack at *any* speed or difficulty is an achievement.
Most annoying moment ever - out with my husband, his father, his aunt, and his sister.
We're introducing the father, aunt, and sister to DDR, as they've never seen it before and want to try it....and the regulars keep bugging us about when we're going to get off, and then griped about how badly they played!
Given that we'd waited on THEM for lord knows how long to get to play ourselves, and we only put in the tokens for one game....you'd think they could be more patient! The game wasn't going anywhere, and they could have it till they dropped after our turn. |

hey, i suck too, but,as everyone knows, DDR is, has always been, and always will be about the FUN...i mean sure we all want to get better, but i mean most of us(excluding the freaky people n00bs dream of becoming) play DDR because its fun and its something we love doing. my greatest accomplishment as of today?..well...been playing about 2 months and although ive gotten full combos, im most proud of my highest combo (238) which i got the first time i A'ed break down standard. hey, sucky and pathetic i know, but it doesnt matter, cause im practicing hard, and i love every minute of it... _________________

Bah... I'll be 30 this year & popped out 3 kids (ppl stop that rumor of me being 18 or 19). It's not about age, more or less physical shape and stamina. Plus having fun counts. Now I must go downstairs and play some doubles so I can train for a tourney. Ghosts standard kicks my butt. |
You'll be 30 and will have popped out 3 kids. Wow I can see you having kids run around an arcade while you play DDR . |
