So...how long does a CG pad last when modded "properly"? |

i was wondering, I am getting a levelsix soft pad and a cypher games metal pad, I wanted to get a piece of plywood so I can put them on it, but should I keep them down somehow or can I just rest it on top and then switch pads if I want to use the other one? |

If they came DOA I would contact the shipping company for a refund.....assuming pretty much that they were damaged internally in shipping. From there they will refund your money. |

|
|
I have been getting messages about Version 2 pads and I know that there are some questions. I am going to give you guys a brief review on the new pads so that hopefully most questions can be answered.
I ordered mine off of ebay for 50 bucks plus shipping. Total was about $100. I just got another pad for $31 plus shipping so that is about $80. It's all about timing to get the best price. I saw one that went for $26 last week but that is not the norm. Usually anywhere between $50-60 unless you are a night owl when most people are asleep. That is when you get the best price.
I won my pad on ebay on a Monday then paid immediately using paypal. I recieved my pad via Fedex Ground on Saturday. Expecting to play immediately I was surprised that this pad was a two pc set with a control box with a start and select button on it. This came the next Tuesday . When I opened the pad the metal was very shiny and I was pleasantly surprised . The pad was one inch think and appeared to be very sturdy. The arrows looked better than the picture and seemed to be strong enough for my weight (190lbs). It was packed very carefully in cardboard and foam. No dents or scratches. When the control box came in it was in a little box.
With no delay I hooked up the pad and started to play. For the most part since I had been using the soft pad with bare feet this was a new experience. I was constantly failing die to the fact that the timing was slightly different using shoes. I finally got it down and started passing levels. Being a standard-heavy player I wasn't giving this pad the workout it deserved. One problem I had was an annoying click I could not figure out and some denting on the metal squares. I realized that the clicking was a slight imperfection in the arrows that scraped that metal arrows around it as they returned to their normal position. Also I had noticed some arrows not responding as I thought they would.
I decieded that from here I should open her up and get a looksie. I merely unscrewed the roundish plates holding the arrows down. No big deal. It looks like one of the upgrades was the underside of the arrows not being plastic with foil tape. This time on the underside of the arrow there was a sheet of metal. This was probably designed to improve conductivity and also combat that pesky screw from coming through. On the other side there was a metal contact about 4x6 inches in dimension. The reason it was not hitting every single time was that the contact underneath was not centered. What I did was remove each arrow and center the lower contact. As for the clicking I figured that the arrows would eventually shave off the excess as I used it., After three weeks, I was right and that clicking noise was gone. I would recommend everyone open up the arrows and do this. Also you can adjust how far down the arrows are when in normal position. This should adjust sensitivity too.
After this I reassembled the pad and started playing. No more arrows not firing.
Today the control box seemed a little loose. This pad was not connecting right and was kind of falling off. No problem, I unscrewed the bottom, opened it up, and tightened the female pc. All good. Inside the control box was only the controls for start and select so I am going to guess that the central control pad is in the center square. That is where I would put it but I could be wrong. Since this pad is working perfectly I dont plan on opening it up again.
Since moving up in skill this pad has been taking a beating. Turning, jumping, galloping, it doesnt move and so far does not miss steps. What I also like about this pad is that you can tell which squares are arrows and which are dead panels. I dont know if I could do this with the CF pad.
Dont get me wrong, I am sure that the CF pad is way better in quality.
Possible fixes on this pad would probably be the playstation panel where these are wired into. If this pad goes dead I plan on just getting an old PS1 controller and soldering the panels in. Must like the do-it-yourself metal pad. The advantage here is that I done have to do any fabrication to this unit, just maintain it and repair if needed. I would recommend this pad because hard pads go for $40-60 plus shipping and why not get the better pad? You will never be satisfied until you get one that works really well. Good luck!!! |

Ah, a-sank very much, these v2 pads sound much, much more reliable than the v1 pads... if mine ever die, I might go with these Just 2 questions, how much do you weigh, and have any of the arrows cracked yet?

I weigh 190 lbs so I think I am a little heavier than the average DDR player. The level six pads (at least the deluxe ones) look the same to me. It does not say if there is an external start and select box. If it comes with one than it is a version 2. This link is the level six that I looked at and it is the same picture I saw on ebay. I bought both of my pads from paysafe if that helps. Here is the level 6 link:

I think that I would recommend mounting them on plywood just in case though.... |

Negative on that. I have never encountered a version 1 pad so I dont know if the plastic is thicker. What is do know is that the metal sheet glued on the underside of the arrows may help fight this problem. All I have are little marks from my shoes but no cracking. |

No noticeable sinking....how far did they sink? The rubber/foam underneath is a black rubber like substance. I think if it sinks I would tend to trip. So far no problems. This pad has been in use for about a month now. How long before the sinking usually occurs? |

Alright I just have a few questions. I'm thinking about buying a CF pad or CG pad and just need to know: For the CF pad, is it really worth the money? And also could anyone compare the life of what each pad would probably be? I don't want to invest 300 bucks into a pad and have it break a few months after having it . |

sinkage should occour when the pad arrives... for it always does it... unlike in version 2's case. _________________

The Buynshop metal pads are BNSUSA Evolution pads. I'll let you know how mine works out this weekend on Max2 from Japan.

Really you don't even need to say that
What have you got against them anyway? They offer nice quality pads with PC adapters. I've already got a set of BNSUSA DX-Extreme pads from them and my metal pad came on Monday of this week. I mean how "DDRKrazy" are you really? I've got every mix except 3rd, Disney Rave, Star OHA and the 2 Dancing Stages (which technically aren't DDRs) and are all authentic imports NOT CD-Rs! Bring it on two step! _________________
