It looks like the 3.0 is like the Cypher Games 2.0 with cheap foam, and the 3.1 is like the CG 2.0 with the dense foam. |

Any tips on how to make my Ignition 2.0 not move around much on the pad? I tried duct tape and it adheres poorly to the carpet. It's the main reason I've stopped playing DDR at home. |

im thinkin of buying ply to fit my DRP2 mat, then using a thinner chair mat right over the top (in fear a thick one may cause probs) then staple the mat to the wood (securing the pad in place) oh yeah also using double sided tape between the plywood and pad, then i do all the corners and sides with ducktape, this is gonna work right? im just doin this cause im bored of playin on a retarted soft pad,
oh yeah... i dont know wtf you people are talkin about not bien able to slide on a soft pad, i do it fine, i slide all over and my pad doesnt move a bit,
one more thing, anybody know if you can get a chairmat at home depot? _________________

Could someone tell me what kind of pads these are ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21185&item=3015465128
they don't have a name on them... Just the regular DDR graphics... The pads I got look like the pictures, except they are shiny, and the foam is white, not grey... So could anyone tell me wtf I bought ? _________________

Thanks for the reply! Well, I was wondering if the prices were okay. I was originally going to get their 2.0 pads which were going for $25. But then they were out of stock. The 3.0 looked good ($36) and still within budget, I guess. But I heard the hard insert was worth the cost so I went with the 3.1 which was $45. Plus, the 3.1 is cheaper than buying the 3.0 with the hard insert.
So I got two of the 3.1 for $87 and a EMSUSB2 adapter for $14. Shipping was $7 ($14 but split with my friend who was also buying the adapter).
People told me to look on ebay so I went there and it was information overload! I had no clue what to get and where to go. Plus, the shipping was outrageous... |

Well, the problem began when my "raised pad" part (Piece of foam or something above the arrow" began to slip and mess me up, so I cut it open and moved arrow back into place... slipped AGAIN. So I open it up, and the thin plastic sensor part for the down arrow is ravaged, when I close it with duct tape, the down arrow no longer registers ANYTHING.
My question is, how can I repair this, if possible. I have another pad (MadKatz) to use as a repair. Would I be able to take the madkatz apart and transplant the top level of plastic sensor in whole or in part to my CG pad?

You probably got the Cypher Games Ignition 1.0. Is the port connector gray PS1 style or black PS2? If it's gray PS1 and you're using a PS2, take extra care when plugging and unplugging those pads. From what I've heard, others have tried the Takami826 mod but couldn't get it to work quite right. I'd say the Chair Mat mod would be the way to go, that is if you have to mod the pads. A possible alternative would be the standard black dense foam, which you can buy from Red Octane for $20. |

Why Red Octane's insert? Doesn't buynshop have a much better insert? I am getting my pad from them. Also, isn't a chair mat mod much better than using just a foam insert? |

from what I understand, the BNS insert is at least as good as the chair mat mod
also, for those who want it, here's the BNS insert, they're out of stock at the moment

But if i do the chair mar mod, it will be much better than just playing with an insert. |

No, see from what I've heard, the BNS inserts are so good you don't even need a chair mat mod. Though since you're getting those anyway, just try it without the mod first and see how you like it. |

But if i just buy the pad and do not mods, it will have sticky arrows. Doesn't the chair mat at least help a little bit to get rid of sticky arrows? I really don't want to have sticky arrows for my pad. How do i get rid of them? Some people say that i have to tape my ignition to a piece of wood. Would that work? |

There's one problem with this method. The bottom layer of the DPR2 (the squishy non-slip foam) is cut too large for the pad, so that you're able to fold the pad up and put it away. When you do a plywood-style mod on DPR2's, the excess foam ends up bunching up under the pad and being a pain. What I did was cut this layer completely off, being careful not to cut through anything else. I just used scissors around the entire edge of the foam, right next to the green strip, then did the standard duct tape + plywood mod.
The foam that you cut off is good stuff, I'm sure you'll find a use for it too! I actually cut lots of holes in it and used it to replace the inner foam of the DPR2 once it had died of old age. I'm now dancing on a $22 DPR2 that i've used very intensely for over 6 months, generally putting 8-10 hours of 9-foot level play on it every week. Only time I ever passed Max300 was on that thing too. _________________

Are the Mad Catz and DPR2 pads about the same quality for soft pads, or is one better then the other? |

When left unmodded, the DPR2 seems to last longer than the Mad Katz, however when modded they're about the same.
diabloslayer469: In general, Ignitions do not develop problems of any kind. You only hear of a lot because whenever one does happen to crap out the poor owner screams at the top of his/her lungs. Just take good care of the pad and it'll be fine. |
