We have a DDR machine at our arcade (MAX 2, 7th Mix), and it seems to work allright, but on some occasions (most notably on HEAVY, once every 70 songs), the game will temporarily lock up.
The song will start, as usual, and then the second that you hit the first step, the display stops. However, the song keeps going. After about 10 seconds, the song and the display re-synchronize, counting all of the other steps as "Misses." This SUCKS when it happens on Oni (Instant end to your game). Has this happened to anyone else ever? _________________

It's relatively common. I think it means that the arcade machine's CD drive is wearing out or has been damaged somehow.
Contrary to popular opinion, it is not a sign of a bad bootleg. Official machines do it too. _________________

I've seen happen when someone playing an Oni course doubles when the game froze up for 15 to 30 seconds. He was on his 2nd to last song or last. I was sad. _________________

Yep, that happened to me too, but when it starts back up again, the arrows will just go up faster to catch up with the beat or song. Because of that, I've gotten off beat, causing me to fail that song... |
