Don't buy Cypher Games pad.
I bought two pads from Komusa Tech. I pulled one out and almost immediately the right arrow stopped working and the O was stuck. I opened it up and was appalled at the construction, the wires were everywhere and not secure and the plates were in random locations, not in the middle like one would expect. One of the wires was cut because it got hooked on a jagged piece of metal, so spliced it, then I moved all of the plates and taped the wires down. The right arrow was still dead and O was stuck. So I gave up for the moment and pulled out the other pad, the down arrow was stuck. So I opened it up, disconnected the down arrow and it was still stuck, so I figured it was the control module, so I took a look, none of the soldering points were loose or touching anything on either of the pads. Oh, and the start/select box on one of the pads was reversed. Shoddy craftmanship all around. So I hit these forums (which I wish I had found in the first place) read about the Cobalt Flux pads, decided I'll just RMA and get the money back to buy one of those. Nope, sorry boys and girls, when I went to pay to have them shipped back, it was going to cost $115, that plus the original $75 in shipping that KomUSA will not refund comes to $190 in shipping costs for getting absolutely nothing. I can't justify shipping it back for that much and they know that, so this is what's known as a scam.
Just wanted to let you guys know not to touch these things with a long stick. If you can't afford a CF pad, just go with a softie and plywood, you'll save a helluva lot of money. |

I was really quite UNimpressed. I mean, it felt like it was well built, but the responsiveness was no better than my MyMyBox metal pads, and I couldn't tell where my feet were. Because the surface is completely flat, it was like playing on a soft pad with better response. I mean, I know the MyMyBox metal pads are prone to certain problems, but I am now convinced that it is the closest to the arcade feel, and the response is really quite good (but they do have to be modded and taken care of). I'm just glad I had the chance to try it before I bought it. |
This is the second time I have read a negitive review of a cf pad. And it is also the second time it was written by someone who does NOT own the pad.
Does anyone who actually OWNS a cf pad have anything bad to say? I sure don't. |

I won this pad on ebay a few days ago, got real excited it went for such a deal but now when I play it the pad seems to cave in on the top. It just doesn't feel right to me, I have another Dancepad and it doesn't do this. This one is 1 inch thick while the other one is only half an inch. But after just once song the center metal square is caved in on the center and when i step on the center it makes an odd noise...
The pad i bought is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21188&item=3020414113&rd=1
It has a control box that changes a serial port to a PS2 port, the box has start and select buttons.
Any help or ideas is appreciated |

I don't know why CG/Games Depot pads have such a bad rep:
Sure, it's just on just on Standard, but they are very good. The only problems I've had since Christmas was a wire came unsoldered and I had to re-sodler, that's all. |

I have to agree with all the owners of the CG pad (that includes me). You can get the CG pad pretty cheap on ebay but make sure you get version 2. It's thicker and more sturdy but YOU HAVE TO MOD THIS PAD! If you dont well that is on you. I must be lucky because the only thing I had to do to mine was adjust the screws and center the sensors on the arrows. Otherwise it works just fine. For $210 I can get two pads and mod them to work great. Even if one breaks how hard is it really to fix it? At worst I can grab a crappy ps controller and rewire the control board. This would probably take about a hr for each pad. Try building your own and see how long it takes....8-10 hrs a pop! CF pads may be the best but you are paying for the best. $600+ for two!!! Its all about getting the pad and fixing it so it does not break in the first place. Some may arrive DOA and I believe that most are from the manufacturer but if you see how they are packed they probably get thrown around in shipping so take that into account. CG pads just have to be taken care of properly. |

Because even though YOU were lucky and got a good one lots and lots of people have gotten pads DOA. And lets be honest...if the pad was put together WELL then modding it would not be required to keep it alive longer then 3 songs. |

Someone asked for a negative thing for a CF, all I can think of is shipping. Before, they would package it with just cardboard boxes around and stuff. UPS was stupid and many pads would come broken. This is fixed now. The pad is so protected. It has the box, then styrofoam on all the corners, and then under and on op of the pad. So your pad will come safe no matter how much UPS sucks. Unless they throw it off the truck or something. _________________

Well I got my Version 2 CG pad and right out of the box I modded all the arrows. About 6 songs later I noticed the back arrow was not responding and when I went to the main menu it seemed like the arrow was stuck in the down position. So I took off the cover cleaned off the copper connects and made sure everything was connected properly. Everything was connected correctly and it was still stuck so I removed the central plate to inspect the circuit board. No problems on the circuit board and no problems with the wiring. So after 6 songs and about 3 hours of resoldering and reconnecting all the wires
I have a non-functioning pad. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. |

Just so you know, 99% of Cboxes going out from CobaltFlux don't break. They've fixed that problem. |

Hi, I am seriously thinking of buying the Cobalt Flux pad but now I have another question that has come to mind. Do you need an adaptor, to hook up your pad to the PS2? I was checking out the images and saw that the pad had no wires sticking out, then I saw this black box that attached the PS2 with the pad. Now I'm concerned that I also have to buy the adaptor, and if I do, where and how much. Thanx. _________________

I won one of those pads for $30 + $45 shipping.
All of those Ver2 pads start at a $1 if you look at the other items he's selling.
Don't be suckered into buying it at the "buy-it-now" price. |
