Little kids are always getting underfoot, it's best just to start going really crazy when they get close, and hope they stay away. ie: start flailing your arms around and screaming like a banshee
My personal favorite, is the group of lame-äss teenagers who almost always seem to hang around in the background, and very poorly imitate me behind my back. You know the kind of people I'm talking about!
I've almost gotten into a couple of fights with some of that same crowd, who wanted to play, so I let them. Right during the middle of the song, when it's obvious that a level 1 song is above their comprehension, they start smashin the shît out of the pads, and spinning around in circles like a bunch of morons, pretending to be doing something productive.
I actually got to physically throw somebody out of my local Nickelcade when they started doing that. It was quite fun to have the manager ask me to throw him out the door |

hello people. This is a stry about someone older than me who thinks he can skip me.
Ok, so today. the machine was on Free Play and when i tried to get on the pad a worker at the arcade tried to get up on the pad and told me to move out of the way.And so, he played Doubles., without him telling me that he was going next.
Just because he is worker doesn't give him the right to skip people. |

I did this a couple times to the same Kid. LOL. My suggestion. Get a tazer. Shock every lil frick head who isnt sweaty within 5 feet of any machine. |

I've had some terrible experiences with kids. There are 3 machine in town during the summer that I frequently visit (after all, I work with one of them).
Machine 1, a mall:
- I was playing doubles (Little Boy heavy) and doing the usual when I step to the 1P left arrow and somebody is resting their leg there. I nearly tripped, failed the song and proceded to complain. As the idle arcade staff remained... uh... idle, the people left and I was out of $1.25.
- Many a time, there will come these 4 employees of a major retailer *cough*Foleys*cough* who come and mock the players. Funny thing is, though, after a while, they themselves began playing. After they harassed me once after almost failing a cata, I complained and they were ejected from the mall.
- Small kids are commonplace at this mall. Right next to the arcade is an ice rink (which is why I like it. Great ventelation). Small kids usually venture to the arcade with their parents. I was playing doubles (Tsugaru, heavy) and was on the 1P pad. I began to gallop the other way when I noticed there was a young kid just standing there. I yelled "MOVE!" and the mom proceded to gaze at me with anger as I attempted to play around her daughter, who remained in my way the entire game. When I was done, I was scolded for "not being safe" when I then explained what I was doing. The mom let out a grunt of sorts, took her daughter by the hand, and left immediately. Oh well...
Machine 2, Another Mall:
- When this mall first got a machine, I was down there. It was a long time since I had played 3rd Mix, so I was a bit excited. I go down, put in the code for 2nd mix mode and out of nowhere, somebody yells "look! A bundle of sticks!" in my direction. I played, they laughed. They then got a cold cup of sprite on them. I wasn't kicked out either...
- There is one player at the arcade who is there (I swear) night and day. Whenever he goes up, he playes his "3 songs of the day" and usually does decent at them. So it was my turn to go up. He asks me if he can play and I let him. The song select screen comes up, and he begins to pick the song. I look at him and ask him "What the hell are you doing?" and he replies "I'm picking [Spin the Disk]" I look at him puzzled, choose a different song and he procedes to cuss me out. Thus began our horrid rivalry (even though I am better than he is).
- Same guy, this time though, he isn't playing with me. I look to my left as I play Burning Heat Heavy Doubles, and there he is, shadowing me. I get off, rest, and the next people get up as some small kid starts to shadow them. the guy turns to me and says "dude, isn't it stupid when people shadow?" I look at him, and say "So you're stupid too, right?" He walked away.
- I showed up one day at 11. Continuously playing when it was my turn. So I go to watch my friend play some MvC2, when I come back, it was my turn when these 2 kids step up and say "We've been here way before you got here." in a very snotty fashon. I say, "uh, no. I've been here since 11, I've been playing for almost a year, and I know how the turn system works. Get off the machine." They took their tokens, and played some Area51 (scrubs...).
Machine 3, my arcade:
- My arcade is one of the hot tourist spots over the summer. Our business survives on it alone. So it's only natural that some dumb things have happened to me.
- The biggest thing is people who can't read the damn screen. People come up to me and say "That machine took 2 of my quarters!" I look at the machine, it says Credits 2/4 and I look at the kid and describe the situation. They ask if they can have their quarters back and I say no. Why? Because the machine recognised the credit, so therefor, it didn't rip them off.
- When I played one day after I got off work, some lady asked me "This machine isn't working. Can you help me?" So I say to her as I struggle to keep a combo "I'm off duty, sorry." she cursed at me and complained to the on hand manager, who couldn't do a damn thing because I was off duty.

Ahhh.....little kids......we gotta make a another sticky topic about how much they annoy us sometimes
I remember playing a 7th mix once and I just put my coins in.......I go to choose a song and a little kid.....I mean little....like....4 or so.....jumps on the pad and starts laughing.....I get a little annoyed....but not so much as I want to pick up the kid and place him in a straightjacket somewhere.
His mom is standing there behind us laughing.....yeah I'll admit is was kinda cute....I wasn't in the middle of playing so it was't that bad. I heard a noise come from the machine and I thought something had changed.....but then I thought it was just from the music.....so I went on...shooed the kid back to his mom and started to play. I'm waiting for the arrows to come up and I don't see any.....then I fail!
The kid must have miraculously stepped on the right combination of arrrows with me at the same time and turned on stealth mode!
I was freaked out......I was going to tell that lady what her son just did but she was long gone...... |

I'm 12, but I've only played at an arcadeonce, and I don't know much etiquitte, but I know enough about what to do.
I was playing and another person came in, and I had just failed Matsuri Japan, so instead of more quarters in I let him play and we switched off.
I saw him playing and he taught me quite a few things that I am glad to know now.
Before that, a little kid (5-7) had been near me the whole time, and every time I started a song, he would jump on the other pad and start hopping around. I was getting quite pissed, but I wasn't playing yet, and right after, his mother took him off. I was really glad.
If little kids get near, play a song by E-Rotic or The Whistle Song, or One Two. That's my dirty tactic. _________________

Once I was doing an Oni and this 14 year old kind comes out of NOWHERE, leaps over the bar onto the 2P pad and smashes his feet all over it while laughing loudly. I say to him, "What the frick is your problem? Cant you see I'm doing an Oni?" He giggles and says softly, "you suck", then jumps off. I turn around to grab him but he bolted off....its almost like he vanished....and I failed the Oni because I turned around at a time when I thought one song was over but it really wasnt....doh. _________________

Well, I was at Tilt a few weeks ago on the Max2 machine they have there. I was playing Kakumei on Shuffle. I get to one part where the gallops are making me lose my balance, and reach out to grab the bar, and there's someone there . She giggles and removes her arm from the bar. I then get to the part with the eighth note runs and let go of the bar. She yells out "Shake what your momma gave ya'!" I was like, "wtf?" and tried to ignore her, but she then proceeds to POKE ME IN THE RIBS. Now I'm figuring it's someone I know so i restrain myself from turning around and yelling, and finish the song.
I turn around and there she is, someone I've never met in my entire life. The cheerleader type. The kind who is always clinging onto her boyfriend while he stands around making fun of the DDRers. She says "That looks fun, can I play?" I tell her it's 75 cents and turn around to pick my next song, and when I turn around again to get myself situated she's standing on the pad! "I wanna play" she says. So I reply, "I paid 75 cents, and you didn't. Wait your turn."
"You don't have to get MAD or anything."
It threw me off so much I failed Burning Heat...

I was playing the IIDX Oni Course (I have beaten it I was just playing it with a friend) and when I got to Burning Heat there is a kid behind me that is making noises to the song right in my ear. I yell, "Whoever is doing this is going to get their ass beat." He continues to do it. So I jump off the pad in the middle of the course and I slam his head into the air hockey table. Then stood there and stared at him and he left, I felt pretty good. Then I walked outside to cool off and he has the nerve to come outside also, I thought he was going to start something but instead hands me the three tokens I lost because I jumped off of the pad. _________________

Believe it or not, I was when I was young. I have to dissagree with you. It is very degrading.
On topic: At my arcade, some guy started World tour and some little kid walks up. He is obviously going to get on, so i grab his shirt indescreetly.
He wiggles free and starts on the pad. The guy is yelling "get him off!!!!"
and I don't know what to do. his parents are laughing so I get the idea of sitting on the pad. before I can, he leaves.
Also, stupid little kids make me mad. (pun intended) _________________

I am 12, short, am, and look, like a kid. But I know perfectly fine of what I am doing to the pad. It is the smaller kids that annoys me the most.

Oh, I have been there at Tilt. (They closed it down now for the ice center.) But before they got the Max2 Machine, they have a DDR USA...I think. And that time the kids were really annoying...
Some kids about 5 or 7 usually tugs your shirt or pulls your leg off the pad while you are playing...I never kicked any of them though, because I was playing basic or standard and the steps are not so hard so I can actually avoid violence.
A kid about my age got on to the pad next to me while I was playing Brilliant 2 U Maniac. He was shadowing me, but the point is, he does not know how to play DDR,and he was holding on to the bar as he play. His brother *and sister?* was behind me kind of laughing and asking their big brother to play hard songs...So after that song was done, I picked Paranoia Rebirth, trying to get him off the pad...I guess it worked. He got off thinking that it was too hard.
Besides the arcade at Tilt, long before that, I actually went to Fry's Electronic Store to play some DDR because they were having a big promotion for it...And since it is a store, kids got really annoying.
They tend to run around the pad while you play...Ring Around The Rosies, Pockets Full Of Posies...
One actually wanted to play...And did not know how. I explained but that didn't work. *Hey, she was 5.*
One was stepping on my arrows...So I guess I did very bad at the song because I could not step on the right arrow...
And so on. |
