Furthermore, when you think things through, this a fu.cking arcade game we're talking about! Men and women never segregated themselves from each other during the time of Pac-Man and Tetris, please don't get these issues fired up again. |
You know, I honestly thought that thats how they planned for this to actually work but its not. If you pay attention she specified several topics that they would work on. Such as fashion tips and partnering up with other girls to reach goals. Now seriously, I've seen millions of guys play DDR and unless they are freestylers or just serious appearalists they don't really care about how they look playing. Girls on the other hand tend to dress up everytime they leave their house (no offense). Now if you tried to have co ed partners to reach goals do you really think the guy wouldn t try to get with the girl? Theres always going to be good ideas like this and bad ideas. This one happens to be the best I've hear in a while. Guys and Girls are different people......Thats why we have different bathrooms. |

youre quite right, there is nothing wrong with DDR guys trying to get DDR guys, hell, im a DDR girl looking for a DDR guy ....but what does this have to do with a female DDR site to talk about issues that would seem unimportant to guys? |

Guys and girls are different people, but the bathroom exmaple is a really bad example. You don't have different bathrooms at home. I didn't have different bathrooms in my dorm at college (yes it had urinals), I didn't have different bathrooms at the local dance club.
Guys and girls are different, but they are less different than our society makes it out to be.
The bathroom thing is a social difference. Urinals are a phyiscal difference. I'm arguing that people need to remember that when they form gender only groups. There are fewer physical limitations on women than social ones.
I'm sorry this is such a sore point for me. I think it's been this way since '82 when sears had the action figures labeled as "boys toys" and so I was afraid to go buy some star wars figures because I thought it was like the bathroom signs. Toys R us still has this concept of "boys" and "girls" toys. |

I'm sorry, my rants are not being productive to the oringal topic so I will say this:
I think it's great to encourage women to play DDR, and if a women's only DDR site is a way to do that, then great, you should do that. Just don't use you gender as a shelter or as an excuse.
Now I will be quiet for the remainder of this thread. If there is any of my points you wish to argue with me, pm me. |

I think she meant "There is nothing wrong with DDR guys trying to get DDR grils
But whats wrong with DDR guys trying to get DDR guys, there are homosexual people out there you know, and both of them just might happen to like DDR. |

I'm a girl, and I really don't see much point to an all-girls DDR site. sure, if it was made, I'd go to it, but I don't really see the point. maybe it's 'cause I hang out with guys more and get along with them better. _________________

Once again same thing
I have no problem with going to an all-girls site. Sure, it might get a little too girly, but I might be wrong. I would totally go to it, and I've read every post on this and I think everyone has great ideas. There shouldn't be a problem when guys come and join, it shouldn't be segragated (you've already said). Maizie has a great idea and great support for what she's gunna do. I'm totally up for it |

Here's an idea:
Add a "The MAN Forum" and a "Girl Talk" forum to this message board.
That way, discussion like, "Alice is so hot" and "How do I pick up chicks by playing DDR" get relegated to one forum, and discussion like "How do you react to DDR guys hitting on you" and "How do I stop my breasts from hurting when I play songs with lots of jumping" go in the other.
It's a lot easier than making a whole "girls only" site. _________________

Ok, I love the feedback I'm getting, so after exams (Wednesday night I'll be through) I'll start getting to work on getting everything put together. If there's anyone who wants to help out in any way, please let me know. I've not quite done this before and though I can pretty much figure stuff out on my own it's always nice to have a bit of help.
And on the topic of girls having a disadvantage: I don't think that Makoto was implying that at all. We do, however, have several issues that make playing for girls a different experience than playing is for guys: lower center of gravity makes it easier for us to balance, generally shorter arms make it harder for us to use the bar for support on exhausting songs, lower average body mass making our entire way of stepping different. Sure, we do have some advantages, mainly in the realms of perception (thus making us better sight readers) and possibly balance, due to the lower center of gravity. Anyway, what all these differences make is an interesting fight. And different tactics to discuss.
Most of my friends are guys, too, but sometimes it's nice to have some female companionship, even if it's just over the internet. But I don't believe that it's impossible for guys and girls to be friends without the guy trying to get the girl (or vice versa). It's just really really hard... |

And when it doesn't work, I suggest running as quickly as local gravity will allow...
As for the site thing, sounds fun, though it DOES come with all the usual site-maintenance things, too...having tech/admin help could come in rather useful. |

-CrAzY |
just so you know, there happen to be a lot of gay people who play DDR. a lot of people say DDR is "gay" and in all actuality, it pretty much is. a lot more people than you realize who play DDR are gay or have homosexual tendencies. _________________
