If your routine sucks, face the music.
And if you tell me you had 3928749 kneedrops, you cannot tell me it deserves something better. _________________

Regarding upper body movement: say you're too lazy to sit around and think up specific arm movements to go with specific parts of the song, particularly if you're doing couples. Is it better to not be doing anything with your arms, but still be expressing the music through other body motions (other than the obvious feet), or is it better to just improv some hand movements that could possibly be out of synch/style with your partner and possibly even sloppy? _________________

well if you are going to take the time to make up a routine why not make a nice looking one with arm movements? i think it looks weird if you dont move you arms a la riverdance. just my opinion but i think many would agree with me on this one |

What's wrong with riverdance.... hmm, possibilities for a freestyle with bag. Nah, somebody'd kill me. Anyhoo, I was thinking, say you're entering a talent competition and needed to make a freestyle for three different songs in two weeks, only being able to work on weekends when the rest of your posse is available. _________________

I have an idea for Dead End Double Basic. .
When the song starts i'll be southeast of the entire machine busting a groove for it would seem to be no apparent reason, then right before the arrows start coming up i'll run to the machine full force, MATRIX WALK and land on Pad 1's left arrow and start spinning on one foot. _________________

Why Settle ONLY for foot work? Like people are actually going to look at ONLY your foot work? Let's not forgot you do have an upper body also to make your routine good. Try Choreographing with upper body movement. It has to fit the song. AND most importantly.... Just have fun

I was thinking that we could do a couples routine, and I can think up steps, moves, etc. for our feet fairly easily, but that upper body part is a tad more difficult. _________________

Possibly the worst idea ever. Don't do that.

Actually, a friend of mine has a routine to Dead End Singles Maniac... yes, Maniac. It's on my site under the D note, go to DDRMEDIA and the CSA section. _________________

I did that just today, the crowd and the other players got a kick out of it. Except my hands were more locked behind my back and I threw in a LOT of flowing spins and crosses.
Freestyling to bag is full of the fun! _________________

matrix walks, though they have a cool name, are ALWAYS bad in a freestyl routine. They demonstrate no dancing ability, are hazardous to the machine, and are, in general, overdone to the nth degree. _________________

Running full speed at someone elses machine and then jumping on to their monitor is a great way to piss off everyone around you. _________________

It's just a Matrix Walk, i've done them many times and never broke a machine. Some people either walk on the screen or the buttons, you're always supposed to walk between both. And you only need to make like 2-3 steps. _________________

What is cool though, is that our machine is literally a foot away from some VERY flexible glass, and it really makes me want to run up it and flip off. Better yet, during my routine, splat against it and stare at the people outside, like during the MASSIVE break in Matsumi Japan (Trick). ANyway. _________________

Take it from me.... Freestyling isn't easy. Doing tricks and everything is cool. Just that there's timing, choreography, and listening to the song involved. Just think of yourself as a instrument and the music is telling you what to do. I'm learning this little by little. If you want to develop a certain style buy/rent videos of people dancing. From there you watch it and mimic what they do. Make sure you have a long narrow mirror so you can you see yourself. The purpose of this is to make yourself look good doing what you like to do. Of course in my past post, like I said before.... have fun

how about I come over to your house and walk all over your television or computer screen?
I'll be sure to run inbetween the buttons. _________________
