I don't suppose anyone has any tips for a newbie like to help improve my IIDX skills? (Besides "Practice!" which I already do all the time.)
My topic requesting some tips was locked, and I was pointed to this thread which I already read completely, but there is really no information on improving my performance. _________________

Once you start getting consistent As and AAs on songs, start putting them on random, and if you are really feeling pumped up, try playing random whenever you play. This will improve your skills drastically, because it will get you more familiar with reading notes instead of subconsciously memorizing patterns. The music stays the same, so as long as you keep the beat in your head and break the consistency of the notes from your memory, you will find that your skills will greatly increase. Let's face it, even though we aren't memorizing every pattern in every song, after a while you do see stuff coming and you can hit the notes easier because of it.
Also, if you haven't already, start playing on at least HS-1. This will increase you accuracy, without making the notes too fast or too slow. You can play faster if you can handle it, but my philosophy is this: If you can't AA it, you shouldn't be modifying it.
My last tip for today: Find a solid base to place your IIDX controller on. Do not play on the floor, or on your lap unless you have to. Try to keep gameplay in an environment as close to arcade style as possible so that you will not be handicapped in any way when you actually get to hit the arcade scene (if you haven't already). The best positioning appears to be where there is a 20-30 degree angle from your wrist to your elbow while you rest your hand on the keys. if the controller is above your elbow, then you are NOT helping yourself at all. _________________

i just wanted to mention, since people were asking about 3rd Style, that I found a copy for $30 near my fiancée's place (LD relationship )
If anyone is interested, i can try getting ahold of the place to find out if they can get any more copies for the same price. If I knew I could get them and that people wanted them, I could try to pick up some copies for people (again tho, this is all dependent on whether or not they could even score more copies for as cheap!) |

Now.... I'm positive this has been covered somewhere on this forum before, but since I'm too lazy to find a link to where it may have been mentioned...
In order to get an Extra Stage in arcade mode in 6th, you must either:
1. Get all Greats on a four star song.
2. Full-combo (no 'Poor's) on a five star song.
3. Finish a six star song with a full 'Groove Gauge'.
4. Clear any seven star song.
(note: this information was Google'ed, and extremely easily)
So yes, you were obviously missing what you were doing differently. |

I am a total IIDX noob. (I found out too late that 4th is the hardest, I can only pass like 2 songs). Which is best (and has enough easy stuff so I can learn to get better) and has a lot of good songs. I heard 3 has a lot, but no beginner mode. I like the songs that were on DDRX, especially A, but also 321 Stars and V. Which mixes have those (I can't check GameFAQs for a list, it's blocked at work)? Anyway, which is the best at teaching a noob like me to get better instead of a bunch of hard as hell stuff like on 4th style?
Thanks in advance _________________

Okay, well, first off, V is from 5th Style and A is from 7th Style (which is not out in CS form presently), and 321 Stars, that's not even in IIDX, it's from BM Complete Mix 2. (This isn't to say that these songs haven't shown up in later mixes/styles of their respective games, though)
As for a good style to start out with... I'd say go with 5th Style. Both 5th and 6th have beginner mode, but overall, 5th Style has easier songs, and both Styles have pretty good soundtracks... so... in my opinion, you should go with 5th. |

Light 7 is simply a stripped-down version of 7-key; made for people that are just picking the game up. I suppose you could equate it to "Basic mode" in DDR. |

You said in the FAQ I would be better off building a IIDX controller then getting that triangle pad and/or creating a Konamistyle controller from air. So I was wondering if anyone had some links on building one?

If anyone here is able to find me a site with IIDX 4th style in stock and is selling it, please email me. If you are selling yours, i am willing to buy it at a very handsome price. |

Hello. I do not play IIDX, but I am beginning to look into it, and I am confused about scoring. How do you get an A/AA/AAA rank? Also, how can you put it on Random AND Mirror at the same time?
Thanks. |

Grading in IIDX works on percentages of possible total EX score, somewhat like the grading system of DDR Max and up. A Just Great (the Greats that flash) is worth 2 points, a Great is worth 1, and everything below that is worth 0.
AAA = 88% of total possible ex score
AA = 77% of total possible ex score
A = 66% of total possible ex score
B = 55% of total possible ex score
C = 44% of total possible ex score
D = 33% of total possible ex score
I'm not sure if that's 100% accurate, but it seems to be pretty close from what I've seen.
As for Mirror+Random... well, maybe if Random isn't random enough for you. It takes the randomized note patterns and mirrors them. Why this is nessissary, I don't know. |

5th Style unlocks:
c-r-a-c-k-ER
Something Wonderful
Love is Dreaminess
Dune
Theme of Denjin J
more deep (ver.2.1)
Entrance
Dengue
Prat Fall
6th Style unlocks:
Changes
Stick Around
Jelly Kiss
Hyper Boundary Gate
The Strong Jaeger
Dissolve
Outer Limits
I have no idea for 3rd Style, sorry! And no, I don't think they track your unlocks. I would say you are doing good right now. I don't think I was even that far on my second day.
For the gallery mode, you have to do various things in Arcade/Free/Expert mode, not Drill mode. If you need more information, just ask! _________________
